Aroma is fruity and flowerish (pear, tropical fruits, smth unidentifiably flowerish), spirit is almost absent and caramel reveals after a while. In a few words, aroma is nice. Again fruits and caramel in taste but caramel is in the background. Taste is softer, richer and more balanced compared to the 5-year version. And no that weird chemical whiff. Aftertaste is not very long, but sweet and has some light herby notes at the end. A good rum after all, but fruits (especially pear, as for me) are too pushy and dominate over burnt sugar. It's interesting to pair it with a cigar: fruits nearly disapper and burnt sugar becomes stronger, especially in the aftertaste.

Bottle purchased in Berlin. Rich golden pour in color. Downright chocolate aroma! Flavor is rich with marshmallow chocolate molasses and an interesting unusual spruce woodiness. So very fun to sip. Like many Cuban rums, this palate is inviting.

There are many rums and rons out there, but this aged strong and soft balance, perfumed simplicity and deepness together is really a wonderfull spirit representing a timeless and real cuba, southern fire, beautyfull power for dancing parties,...

This rum is very similar to Calvados. Really original rum, low alcohol emphasis, complex flavor.
I finished fourth bottle: exactly 8/10. Very solid concentrated impression.

This is - to my taste - a much better rum than the Havana Club 7yr, as it is sweeter and richer. Very good with an ice cube, not as refined as for example the 8yr El Dorado, but nonetheless a very good bargain!

TLDR: Getting more than what you paid for

I'm fairly new to the rum scene but this is so far the best rum I've had in the cheap price zone. I'd take it any day!

I've been sipping it only so far with some ice and lime and it's such a balanced profile, you can easily drink a lot of it. That's what I've been doing at least. Writing this review at around half a bottle down.

Don't be fooled by the bottle, it may not look like much but what's inside is impressive especially given the price.

This is a tasty and for me a good example of a Cuban style rum.

A rum to enjoy at the same level of a Havana Club or a Ron Santiago. It's being a while since I tried this one. Need to refresh my memory.
