Een aardige rum om te drinken. Gewoon voor een avondje tussendoor, maar zeker niet speciaal.
Bought this after 5y and 7y, it is recognizably smoother than the younger brothers, overall shares the same traits. The smell is very nice, it is dominated by sour apple and orange peel, with a touch of oak and a hint of vanilla, the taste is orange peel, sweet apple juice, spices, all smooth and mellow, the aftertaste mild and of medium length. This rum very well made, apparently without sugar, smooth sipper, but it lacks depth and complexity to score higher. Nice and inoffensive example of Cuban style for reasonable money.
Lekker zachte rum. Lekker om puur of on the rocks te drinken. Had er wel meer van verwacht
disappointed rum,nothing special
expected much more from this cuban
Salon du Rhum Spa 2018 - pas mauvais mais sans plus
One of my first rums. Sharper than I thought, not too sweet, smells like wallnuts and has a bit of a whiskish taste.
Definitely not bad. I will maybe change the rating to 8 once I mature to the less sweet rums.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Just like the 5yo and 7yo this is a very elegant expression with a lot of fruit on the nose, mostly orange. It is a dry rum but the fudge and sweet fruits are all over. This rum is probably the opposite of the Appleton Estate's rare bland 12yo I reviewed a couple of days ago. No punch in your face but a very gentle and inviting rum that has a lot of flavours but it needs time and attention to pick them all up.
On the palate there is a bit of walnut at first, quickly followed by orange peel, a bit of pineapple and fudge, all surrounded by light oaky tannines. The finish reveals stronger peppery notes and lingers on quite a bit.
Reading the other reviews I see some disappointment here and there and my guess is that this is due to the style; if you don't give the rum the time and attention it needs you might miss it all and it would go down unnoticed. But really, this is a very beautiful and harmonious rum worth your time and money.
