Mount Gay Eclipse rum is produced from molasses that is double distilled and aged up to 2 years in white Kentucky oak ex bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay is the oldest existing rum brand in the world, with it's oldest surviving deed being from 1703. The company developed the use of traditional double copper pot stills, a process that has been in continuous use by Mount Gay ever since its founding. The company's namesake Sir John Gay Alleyne was a good friend of John Sober who purchased the then Mount Gilboa distilleries in 1747.

As the title would suggest this is my baseline for all rums. This was the first rum I found when I switched from drinking spiced rum to non-spiced. It has what I feel are subtle notes and nothing extravagant jumps out at you. I would recommend this rum to anyone who is new to rum drinking and should be a staple in anyone's liquor cabinet.
dry rum. molasses.
this drop isnt the best to drink neat. you can, but you donยดt have to.
typical barbados in the basics, but way too hard. better mix this with coke or juice.
then itยดs great!
Your review โ you could include things like color, aroma, body, taste, finish, spice, smoothnessโฆ really anything you want! You can also share an optional picture of the drink (or better still - you enjoying it!) by attaching a photo below.
Hardly any flavor outside of a hefty oaky taste. More comparable to crown royal or some other variety of smooth rye/rye-whiskey. At best it's drinkable strictly because of how smooth it goes down.
Great taste, perfect on its own or with Coke. Good price too.
8/10 as a mixology rum
4/10 as a straight rum
Very unpleasant in nose, taste kind of synthetic. Yet works so well in drinks, never understood that.
Had it with a coke, wasn't harsh, but flowed with the coke quite well.
Light body and color. A bit harsh and hot. An okay mixer but nothing special as a sipper.
Para beberlo solo es un poco justo epro muy bueno para combinados.

Quite sickly sweet smell.
"When sipped the rum does not exhibit much of these sickly sweet flavours. Itโs just very heavy on the alcohol. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not the best one, but not a bad choice. Cheaper one and not a bad taste
