Barbados | Aged | 40% ABV

Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.

The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

I love the story of this rum. The name, "Dos Maderas" is Spanish for "Two Woods" because the rum is aged it two different types of barrels. It is first aged in oak barrels in the Caribean for 5 years, then shipped to Spain and transferred to sherry casks for further aging. The resulting rum could be characterized as sweet with a lot of sherry and oak coming together with the rum.

I first poured it neat. It has a rich coffee color and a slightly oily surface. It smells of chocolate and honey with just a little burn in the nose. The fist sip surrounds the tongue with a rich sweetness and a little pepper in the back of the throat. It warms the chest as it goes down, like a warm brandy.

I then added an ice cube, but it didn't need it. It may go down a bit faster this way, but in the future the only thing I will pair with this rum is a good cigar and/or good company.

Very good and smooth rum. The taste is very fruity and the color is very dark due to aging in cherry casks. I like sweeter rums with fruity taste at the end. So this one i can recommend.

Absolutní bomba pro milovníky portského a sherry.
Chuť a vůně sladká, ovocná, rozinková, vanilková…
V dochuti dominuje sherry. Je třeba jej zahřát a počkat, pak se vůně rozvine.
Velmi oblíbený. Skvělý.

It is a good choice for people who like Diplo RE, but this one is even sweeter. It's good rum, very smooth and fruity. But to say the truth, I was expecting a bit more of it. However, it doesn't change the fact that i enjoyed the rum.

Beautiful deep amber color. The nose starts off with a lot of alcohol burn but turns into a pleasant mixture of oak, spices, and molasses. The taste of darker fruits linger on the tongue. The finish is that of sherry sweetness. Very nice overall.

Very smooth and a bit sweet, kind of a mix between molasses and honey for the sweet note. The sweetness has a richness to it, may be the sherry influence that gives that kind of "juicy" aspect to sweetness in drinks.

I have tried this neat and also with a bit of ice, and I think it goes better neat. If you want it with ice, I recommend letting it breathe a bit and then adding ice. First 5 minutes, it seemed like the ice opened up a more bitter, charred note that wasn't there. Luckily it did not linger on the aftertaste, but it was noteworthy. After about 15-20 min this went away and it became much more enjoyable, but yeah maybe take extra time if you plan to have this with ice.

Overall a great bottle for the price. I was fine with this neat, both immediately and after letting it breathe a bit, but with ice definitely let this breathe some.

Genialer Rum, angenehme Schärfe, ein Hauch Vanille und die volle klatschte Sherry. Fans erfreuen sich sehr daran

Has a full but not overwhelming body, and a richness that actually makes me smile when sipping.
