Chairman's Reserve rum is produced in St Lucia using continuous and pot stills. The rum from these stills are aged for 3-4 years separetly, then combined and aged for 6 more months to marry the flavors.

Having been to St Lucia twice, it ranks right up there with St Vincent and Dominica for being the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. I have finally found an affordable rum from this rugged island. Something also tells me that the molasses is sourced from Jamaica, but that is just my own hunch.

The aroma is of caramel and leather. The taste is similar to one of the funky Jamaican rums from Appleton Estate. The after taste is pure Jamaican funk. The burn is toned down a bit.

After breathing in the bottle for 10 days beyond the first test, the subdued funky Jamaican flavors are now even more subdued and replaced with the taste of butterscotch. Nutmeg is probably also in the mix as noticed by the strange feeling it gives after only two drinks, as well as morning after ill effects. After six months with about 75% of the bottle remaining, it retained it's initial taste, but the side effects caused me to pour the rest of the bottle down the drain and never want to buy this one again. This one started out as a 6 rating, then up to a 7, and now down to a 4.

Update May 26, 2021: Since I drove about 600 miles to get a couple of bottles of their 1931, I would say that I am a huge fan of Chairman's rums from St.Lucia. I bought another bottle of this one today. My rating has jumped back up from a 4 to a 7. The taste is fantastic for this price. However, I have no right to inflict my own internal plumbing problems upon this great tasting rum. Therefore, my original rating of 6 jumps up one to a 7 where it rightfully belongs.

Quality mid range rum. Quite ok to sip straight, and with enough taste to be distinctive in mixed drinks. Pity there isn't a premium aged version available.

Tasted at Laka Lono August 27, 2023
Appearance: amber
Aroma: caramel and Caribbean goodness
Flavor: is there such a thing as a Scottish rum? This seems like it's got some peatiness to it along with caramel and stone fruit flavors

I dont know what it is about the label but until actually reading it I thought this was a spiced rum. That being said I'm glad I picked it up. Very tasty rum has a nice burn thats not too harsh

Skvělý poměr ceny a kvality. Dřevo, melasa doplněno o ovoce, náznaky vanilky a karamelu. Já si raději připlatím za Legacy, ale tento je taky fajn.

This is a very smooth rum with a somewhat bitter finish. Nice smoky and butterscotch notes on the nose and smooth on the palate, this is a great budget sipper. The main attraction for this rum is the price. Maybe not as tempting for those in the US where foursquare rums are cheap and available, but for the rest of us where those come at a premium, this is a genuine budget sipper if you don't like sweet rums.

Caramel and burnt sugar upfront, but with copper coins and coalfire in the background, some unripe fruits and green grass. Not a bad nose.

Bit of a mixed bag for me. It's got some nice smoky tones and some spice, which is what you hope for with St. Lucia Rum, but unfortunately the sugars and caramel quickly do away with all else and completely take over, until we get some unripe fruit and some alcohol in the finish.

Not bad at all, but unfortunately too sweet.

Oh so good and sippable love the st lucia burn with the complex caramel taste. A bit butter on the finish which I enjoy as well
