*December 2020 Update* So this has, without question, become one of my favorite rums. There is no rum I would rather sip by the fireplace on a cold day. Its flavors are bold and complex yet also harmonic and inviting. It is to my tastes absolutely masterful. Next to Foursquare 2007, this is probably tied for my single favorite rum of all.

Original review:

Given the flavor profiles I was afraid I wasn’t going to like this rum as much as others. Given the rating though I felt like I had to try it...and I am so glad I did. This is an extraordinarily smooth and pleasant rum to be savored slowly. Some say it has a burn to it, but I would say it is more like a fireside warmth. It’s like molasses, oak, maple syrup, and fine tobacco next to a crackling fire. It leaves a marvelous after-essence of hickory nut. This is absolutely becoming a mainstay in my cabinet. I am impressed.

2 weeks after popping the cork on this bottle I still can’t get it’s beautifully complex mix of flavors out of my head. That being the case I think I have to bump this up to a full 10. This rum is a master piece to be savored slowly on every sip.

This is the perfect rum for those bourbon and/or scotch drinkers who don't want to be bombarded with the overt sweetness and sugar of some rums such as Diplomatico Reserva and Zaya. Don't get me wrong, it still has a lot sweetness but it's muted by the bourbon barrel aging and goes down very easily. I'm really enjoying this at the moment as my nightly sipper.

A strong flavor, but somehow it didn't hit me right. I guess it's good, but I can't really recommend this one.

The nose is fragrant with some spice. When you swallow you definitely get a clear bourbon taste that only lasts for two seconds. The finish is long and very nice with flavors of vanilla and toffee. This would have probably been a perfect sipping rum if it weren't for the bourbon. On the other hand, this is maybe perfect for bourbon drinkers new to rum.

It has been difficult to find in Sweden, finally found it in Denmark. Smells simular to other quality rums. The taste is round bot not that sweet as I expected 5-6 in scale of 1-10. It becomes more complex wirh longer aftertaste after around 15-20 minutes in glass. The bottle mentoned by others is beutyfulπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

Was recommended to me by a friend. Very good and found it a tad nicer than Diplomatica Reserva Exclusiva. Has a little sweetness, but nice flavor and burn.

After a glowing review here, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Quite smooth and somewhat complex, however I noticed a heavier burn on the aftertaste.

Another one off the wish list; a shout out to wifey for grabbing me two bottles in South Beach.
This was on my list for years and I'll admit I had lofty expectations.

It reminds me of a cross between angostura 1824 and matusalem 15. Now I do like both of those but I guess I was expecting something different.

If I wanted to impress a buddy with an amazing 21 year old rum I would probably turn to appletons or el dorado before this one.
Still; this one is not without its charm.

I like the bottle. It has presence on the bar. What's inside tastes dry and smokey or woody. Not sweet. Not bad. Abuelo 12 is sweeter and also Panamanian

Smooth and delicate with a tiny burn and some sweetness. Probably solera. A good amount of bourbon flavor.

Real nice rum, nice color, nice nose, but there is something off with it.. A bit to much alcohol
