Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

My local watering hole has this as the well rum so I can't complain for the price I pay for

Warning: I didn't try this rum straight.

I bought this bottle just once when I was desperate for something to mix with Coke in my Las Vegas hotel room to save money before going out. That is the only context in which I tried it.

I thought it was surprisingly good, probably better than any rum and Coke I have been served at a bar. I can't comment on the flavor profiles besides the hint of wood/age I detected, but if you're going to waste rum by dumping it in Coke (without even a lime), I think this is a good bet. However, I would never dream of drinking it straight or using it in any sort of tiki drink.

Available in 375ml so when I have people over who never bring anything this is what hey get. Very affordable and not too bad as a mixer. I'll drink with juice. Or for a flashback, Hawaiian Punch.

This rum is simply not good. I imagine itโ€™s made for homeless and alcoholics.

"Although I've gotten somewhat used to the burning sensation and distinct vodka-esque gasoline taste in rum and cokes everywhere that better rums are simply unavailable, I have to place this one at the very bottom of my list. It's like a bad lover that you keep going back to because there just isn't anyone else around- better than nothing, familiar, but it leaves a bad aftertaste. Gold is only marginally better." Well this is the gold. I drank it in high school with red bull and would like to keep those bad memories in the past.

Harsh and one-dimensional; not for drinking straight yet more expensive than other adequate mixer level rums.

There are so many better sipping and mixing rums. This is their gold. This is flat notes with a little aroma. Buy Plantation 25th anniversary. Forget about cost. Mix or sip The aroma alone is worth it. Life is short.

I picked this up by mistake I guess. Tastes like something filtered through a worn gym sock (as far as I imagine). Oh God. I empied the first shot down the sink. And after a sincere earnest second try sent the second glass along with the rest of the bottl down the drain too. Oh God itโ€™s awful. Never again,
