Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

This is a great rum, I originally got it for mixing in Tiki specific drinks but later on tried it straight, much better than I expected, really great to still have at least one good Bacardi rum in the world. It's a very versatile rum and if you have a short cabinet I say this is a great option.

I bought a 750 ml bottle for $25.
The first time I opened the bottle, I got a rubbing alcohol smell, but luckily didn't encounter that smell after that.
Nose: Very nice and strong typical quality rum smell.
Sip: sweet burning taste on the palette.
Finish: clear taste of sweet molasses and vanilla. Long finish.
Despite of what some say, this is a great sipping rum. It's only a tiny bit inferior to say $50 rums like ron zacapa 23 yr or zafra 21 yr. A must buy for frequent rum drinkers. It pairs very good with cigars as well.

Este ron lo suelo tomar mezclado con Coca-Cola, es un ron suave y ligero, es uno de mis consentidos

Not a bad rum for this price. Smooth flavor but nothing special.

Nice bottle.
Toffee brown colour.
Spiritey nose, little aroma.

In the mouth initially quite sharp with a subtle but distinct funky note.

Hint of sweetness, fairly neutral on the palate finishing in light tobacco note.
Not that far from a Doorly XO, but sweeter.

Fair burn.
Ok to sip in the airport lounge but won't rush to buy.

A mass production could be this good. I enjoy on the rocks. Brought out flavors of caramel, molasses, a slight bit of vanilla and lastly tobacco. Not too sweet and is very bold. For my pallette very rich in taste and slightly better than Captain Morgan Private Stock.

My brother bought me a bottle of Havana Club Selection... and I spent weeks trying to find something that came close to the flavor....I finally found it in this Bacardi 8! It is VERY close... the first sip hits you with an intense sweetness, but that goes away quickly and then tons of flavor hit the palate! It also has that wonderful oak barrel flavor that is so hard to find in a good, but not expensive rum! This is a wonderful sipping rum, especially with the right kind of cigar! (A. Fuentes Hemingway is my legal choice!) This will not disappoint you, and you can not beat the price! High quality at a very reasonable price!

Smooth and smoky, definitely not bad Bacardi, decent price for what you get , and a pretty good flavor.
