I liked this rum quite a bit. It's sweet and flavorful, and it borders on an 8 because of the price, which is quite reasonable for what you get.
Friends recommended this brand, but honestly I expected a better taste. Liked the desing of the bottle tho'
XO was more harsh, needed ice. Original was smooth, very vanilla heavy.
6,5:The nose opens on a roasted register, with strongly toasted oak, coffee, charcoal and roasted nuts. A little vanilla sweetness gradually coats all this, along with a slightly fruity cane syrup.
With aeration, the nuts become increasingly concentrated and roasted, the coffee even tighter. It's easy to imagine a truly charred barrel.
7,3:The palate is round and very caramelized. The sweet rum has licked the toasted wood and taken all its vanilla with it. The coffee and roasted nuts are generously coated, so that their burnt side is totally melted.
7,3:The finish unfolds on the same roasted notes.
It s more rigid on the nose, it opens on palate. Quite nice.
Almost same color as original, nice mahogany brown. Vanilla, pear and banana on the nose mostly, some hardwood also. Nice strong taste of bourbonbarrel and warm ethanol. Turns into nuts, ryebread and light oak. Fullbodied experience, truly enjoyable as is. A bit on the sweet side, but that's just the way I like my rums.
Smooth and robust rum. Rum has definitely a body. Bit oaky flavour. Very nice rum.
Nice frosted black bottle usual shape for the brand. Gentle mixed aromas of pepper, vanilla & mango. Lovely flavour in the mouth but doesn't last long. Not enough fire for me but a lot of people will find this a great sipping rum.
XO rums are my favourite and this did not disappoint. Very different from the other Bumbu.
On the nose it's a dry, woody with a hint of chocolate or coffee.
Taste wise it's dry and woody. However the taste really varied for me, sometimes a slight orange flavour, other times a chocolate or coffee flavour.
Either way best with 2 blocks of ice, when mixed it was 50/50 with gingerale.
Never really appreciated rum outside of cocktails abs bought this because I've heard good things. I don't care for it neat but i thought it was good on ice and fantastic with coke.
Notes of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg also come into play. It has little burn to no burn.
"It is a fair bit drier. There is a touch of oak and a little bit of spice. Traces of ginger and little cinnamon. It’s very very short finish wise."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Have not had the original, but I have to say I was very impressed with the XO. Very clean finish yet with plenty of the flavor I have come to love from a rum. I would certainly buy it again and look forward to the sister blends.
