Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV
The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.
Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.
Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

I love a Pusser's British Navy. Though my score may not suggest so.
The first bottle I ever opened, I was not so impressed and condoned to using it as a mixer for the famous BVI Pain Killer cocktail.
HOWEVER, I forgot about the remains I placed in their decanter. 6m later I revisited it. The interaction with the air in the bottle mellowed it out changed its flavors dramatically.
Now an "open" bottle always sits their with my other staple rums.
I like it neat or served in a PainKiller cocktail.
trevlig upplevelse..
Good enough to sip but an excellent mixer. Coconut, butterscotch, dried fruit and packs a little punch. I didnt think water changed it all that much. Short finish.
The old-style, 15 year old Pusser's is in my top 5 rums - a classic rum funkiness with a hint of spice and a dash of sweetness. I've heard the new style 15 year old of the last year is not very good. I won't be buying it then. The good news is that it's younger sibling is pretty good and roughly a third of the price. It has all the same tones, flavours, aromas and pleasures as the 15 year old, but just not quite as smoothly and as well-refined. Make no mistake, though, this is a great rum - especially for about £22. Sign me up for a case!
I discovered Pusser’s dark rum with fresh grapefruit juice a favorite and drink it regularly now at home when entertaining. Forget just mixing white rums with juices, Pusser’s is my preferred rum with fresh juices!
What got me started on my rum journey was a recommendation for Pusser's 10 year old rum. I never found it before I started to try many others. Since the description of this rum is more historical than quality based I stayed away. I think Pusser's charges a premium for the name so I never bought it. Today a friend had some and I had a chance to try it. I only had one glass rather than a bottle, but I was surprised that it was quite pleasant. I only drink it on the rocks and I like the taste as well as the smoothness. I have to give it an 8 on first impression. I hope my next encounter is as good.
The British Navy did, for centuries!
Smooth and warming. Not at all hot. Molasses and caramel, lightly sweet with a long drying finish. Great aftertaste. Lightly numbing on the mouth. Light oak and some fruity character. This is a great sipping rum and for the money it's hard to beat. ($19 in Ohio 5/19) For this price you can use it generously in any cocktail requiring aged rum too. Highly recommended.

It has just the right balance of sweet.
"The rum is rich, warming, sweet, slightly oaked with hints of black pepper and allspice."

Complex Rum with reminds me of dryed fruits. Ideal for Mixing sweet Cocktails. Sipping if you can handle the burn. Great Value for Money!
