Diamond Reserve Demerara Dark

I saw this today in my supermarket isle and I could not help myself when I noticed it was a Demerara rum. The color lived up to it’s name, but I’m not sure it did anything to enhance the taste of the rum. There was no age statement on the bottle, so I did not know quite what to expect. It had a fragrant but weak nose with no alcohol burn. There was tobacco, leather and some ripe fruit. The initial taste was almost to sweet, but it did have a nice smokiness to it, the rest it was a little harsh with trailing bitterness.
