If you’re looking to get into age statement rums, this is a great start! Plantation 5yr is a good balanced semi dry rum good for drinking neat, on the rocks or in your choice of cocktail.

For some reason I'm not the biggest fan of these Plantation Rums. Maybe the ones i have tasted have not been the right ones. Have to keep looking

This rum is suprisingly smooth for the price point. I can actually sip this on ice. A bit too much fruit flavours for my palate, though. Until I find a chocolate-coffee-toffee forward smooth rum at the same price point, this will probably be my go-to all-round rum.

I use this in many tiki drinks calling for a Barbados rum, it fills that role perfectly. while it is sip-able if you really want a Barbados rum to drink straight up spend a little more and take home the 20th anniversary if you have the opportunity.

Received as a gift from a friend , this 5y was the first Plantation I had the opportunity to taste and I was not deceived. Very sweet , maybe a little bit too thin but this rum is quite young. The aftertaste is short but pleasant. This rum is good value for mone and I'm pretty sure I'll buy a new one one day.

In my opinion, this is one of the best rum you can buy for less than 30€ (at least, here in France!)
Very sweet, with a nice vanilla taste.
Drink it straight, no ice. You won't regret your purchase.

A bit thin, but other than that a great choice. Sweet and very smooth for being so young. I think it does just fine as a sipper!

This being Plantation workhorse, it is quite representative of the house style.
Tropical aromas on the nose: banana, mango, coconut and some light baking spices.
Medium body, the mouth as a bit more texture than most golden rums = probably the result of the classic bajan wayof mixing copper pot and column stills distillates.
Finish is a bit short but with some delicious orange marmalade notes.
In my local this is pretty much the same price as El Dorado 12 and Appleton Estate Extra/ 12yo, all three of them being excellent choices, I feel the Plantation is the most versatile one. Could easily be sipped straight or on the rocks, but lots of tropical flavours that carry on in a premium cocktail and not to much wood.
This Holiday season I went through a bottle making some buttered rum and the result was fantastic.

Of course there are better rums out the there but at the price point offered it is a tasty rum as a mixer but surprisingly good also as a sipper.

Another good Plantation rum and at only 30 bones, a great value.
It's good but not great; a little too buttery for my liking.
