It’s a kind of sweet rum. I think it’s better on the nose than it is to the mouth. Rich aromas (very pleasant), rich fruity and sweet taste. For one or two glasses the most.
I do not recommend on the rocks (it will get weak), I think it’s better straight out of the bottle. Not to great for a cigar. For the money it costs it is fair. It has added sugar but not to much. If you like Diplomatico reserva exclusiva, for half the price you will like this too.
In two words: good and cheap but not “wow””.
Easily a 7 for the price at £26 It's a steal. Wonderful mixer and actually ok to sip even after 5 years. Plantation do their rums well fine Barbados tastes of the Caribbean
Easy drinking light rum. Mildy sweet with a clean finish and very little burn. A good sipping rum for everyday
Poměr ceny / kvality je velmi dobrý. Není to na skleničku k rozjímaní, ale za tu cenu se to chlastá parádně.
Light golden, sweet, caramel rum with some vanilla and banana aroma. Goes down easily. I have a soft spot for barbados rum.
Having already tasted the xo edition, which ranks on top of my list, it's really hard to settle for anything less, especially when the word "plantation" is present in the name.
By any means though, I expected it to be nothing less than good.
And that's exactly what this fellow is.
In the first place, alcohol presence is dominant over the glass. The rum itself feels quite smooth in the mouth. Medium sweetness followed by well rounded vanilla aromas. Molasses are also present in every sip. Well balanced in every aspect. Lacks the richness of a premium but it is a total winner in the category "value for money".
Do not hesitate to try.
Can add anything new that hasn’t already been said. Somebody bought me the pineapple one. Had to mix it or throw it out. I mixed it. Mistakenly thought Plantation must be bad until I had this one.
Sounds like I need to try the XO!
(I have had 11 rums, about a 1/2 oz of each before this review. Without any palette cleansers for those that makes a difference too):
My first reaction was carmel into vanilla and then a smooth burn. Upon the rest of the glass i get more barell before the burn. The barell does not overpower like other rums i have had but adds a little "spice" or flavour to the finish. A good baseline for barbados in my opinion.
This is a ok budget rum. It's a bit sweet and needs to breath in the glass to tone down the alcohol fumes a bit but for the price i prefer this to others in the same price bracket. Overall plesantly surprised for the price and age of it. It tastes older then it is. Fruity and sweet with a lenghty after taste.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
