Mount Gay Extra Old (often written "OX") is a blend of rums aged between 8 and 15 years in American bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay Distilleries is the oldest operating distillery in the Americas - producing rum in Barbados since 1703. It's original name was Mount Gilboa, and in 1801 renamed Mount Gay after the distillery's manager Sir John Gay Alleyne.

Smooth and sweet. Just add ice and you have an enjoyable drink.
A solid 8 and this rum can also be loved by both whiskey and cognac fans....

Simply put, one of the best ever. Smooth and complex an absolute must try if you love rum.
Very fine for straight sipping after dinner, like a cognac.

I’m really digging this bottle so far. Haven’t tried neat/on the rocks, but with Coke it was amazing. Subtle sweetness, with a soft finish. Another keeper!

This was the first ever bottle of rum I had and the choice couldn´t be better.I enjoyed every sip. Since I had no experience back then the current review would not be accurate. I will buy another one and edit this review soon...

I bought this rum because of the relatively good comments that I heard about it. After tasting it, I was unimpressed. I do not think I can describe its flavor with enthusiasm as is the case with other rums, but it was OK. It is on the side of the sweet rums, perhaps some caramel somewhere, some honey, but nothing really exciting. I mean it achieves a minimum standard set by rums of similar price in the sense that its quality is acceptable, but that is all.
