Smooth aroma, not over powering. Taste is light and smooth with a slight bite. Finishes medium with a light bitter note.

Decent rum. The nose didn’t match what I expected from the taste. The nose is very fruity with some grassiness. The taste is very dry with similar notes. Minimal burn on the finish. Overall not bad, I would need to be a few deep to sip this alone but not out of the question. Probably a great mixer with juices.

It was drinkable but not very memorable. No layers of flavor and a very short finish.

Really great and unique rum.
Color is deep mahogany, nose has funk, char and coffee.
On the palate a lot more vanilla, cacao and coffee with a long dry finish of tobacco and leather muskiness.
Really amazing when substituted instead of bourbons or ryes in classic whiskey based stirred cocktails - my personal recommendation is to try it in a rum old fashion, a Toronto or a Cocktial La Louisiane (bonus points for substituting the Benedictine for the RATU signature 8yr liqueur).

Perfume and strong alcohol burn. It's hard to pick out flavours other than alcohol and rubber. I don't do rum and coke but this rum is for mixing.

Strong on the alcohol side. fruity and kinda Agricolic. herbs in the aftertaste

Ratu is a brand of rum from Fiji, that I have had a bad experience with in the past. That time it was the liquor, also known as Ratu 8, and sadly this 5-year dark is not much better.
Nose: Treacle, caramel, oak and some fruity notes, that are hard to place
Taste: Caramel, oak, vanilla, smoke, tea with a weird almost "sweet whisky" aftertaste
Overall: This is one of those rums, that tries to please everyone and ends up pleasing none. There are some smoky notes that pleases the lovers of dry rums and whisky, but also a good dose of caramel and vanilla for the lovers of sweeters rums. It ends up in the middle of the two and that is just not good.
