Rick states. “Reminds me heavily of a clarin. Pretty decent but raw. Big vegetal and olive brine nose with plum and blackberry. Hints Reminds me heavily of a clarin. Pretty decent but raw. Big vegetal and olive brine nose with plum and blackberry. Hints of red fruit and honey on the tongue. Ends with tobacco of red fruit and honey on the tongue. Ends with tobacco”. His comments spot onto me. Will be buying another bottle.

Not really a better way to describe this than wild. It's so full on, in your face, powerful, and yet filled with nuance and delicacies that it's hard to put your finger on what makes it so unique. The nose is not your standard Agricole, and its borderline unfair to rate it against something from Martinique. I find myself gravitating towards it when I want to sip something engaging. Haven't mixed it, but not sure if I want to. True expression of the cane and terroir, leads me begging for more aguardiente de canas in my cabinet.

Edit: pushing to a 9. It really characterizes a good quality spirit. Each time I drink it I pick out different flavors that I appreciate. Brine and green olives on the nose. Sweet, complex palate with a strong vegetal note initially, followed by overripe tropical fruits. Medium length finish of fennel. Sniffing the empty glass I get a wild combo of vinegar (almost ketchup) and a bit of sugar.

Very much in the clairin camp this - Sajous in particular.
It's briney and slightly sour, and vegetal, and it has that somewhat overpowering smell that quickly fills the room abd attacks your senses.
Pretty smooth with it though. I find it much more drinkable neat than most clairin, or most white rum for that matter.

Particolare e interessante

This stuff is so much fun! Grassy, kero, crystalised sugary and buttery aromas fun! One glass will keep you occupied as long as like tasting new flavours. I discovered that, for my tastes, its too much for a Daiq (half and half with something else would probs be great!). Very happy to have it in the cupboard for the adventurous!

Its like a banana took a dump in my mouth and I wasn’t that against it

Tasted again in 2024 with better appreciation for agricoles:
Heavy funk on the nose, sweet taste that slightly burns finish is sweet but in a good way with a hint of banana

From our home stash, first discovered by our household in San Antonio TX in February 2023, lost the notes so catching up now 6/4/2023
Color: clear
Aroma: yeast, bread, yum
Flavor: just so very delicious. Grass, yeast, makes me want to eat a piece of pizza.

Bottle purchased at Central Liquor Des Moines. Clear. Crazy amazing cachaca aroma - strong rising dough, mustard?, mown grass. Tangy sweetness a bit like duck sauce. Plenty of heat here yet easily quaffed. Sweet cherries and graham crackers at the finish.

Vůně: Olivy, kvašáky, sůl, "trnkový kvas s aj peckama", s nádechem kresolu, citrusů a nahnilých banánů.
