Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

This is the golden boy rum to have for sipping (commercially available at a reasonable price) if you are a Cuban living abroad and don't get to travel to the island often. I really like the strong smell of the HC7. Like the taste as well although one still finds the harshness that characterizes most of the Cuban rums I have tasted/being able to afford. Such harshness sometimes makes it a non-sipper to citizens from other countries. What I cannot cope with is the cheap bottle cap. Its also not too sweet like the Demerara ED family but not a great value for ~33CAD in Ontario, Canada.
Great for mixing but other cheaper HCs will do the job as well while minimizing the damage to your wallet.
its a nice rum to mix with coke not expensive but not cheap eather
Pure alcohol, a bit too harsh for my taste/throat. Frankly speaking, I don't believe this rum is aged for 7 long years. My guess would be 7 weeks. Seven years in a wood, in Cuba's hot climate, would make it a wonderful, smooth-sipping drink. Just look at any bourbon, as a production reference.
meget skarp i smagen og meget sprittet. Ikke rigtig nogle noter og toner der får lov at trænge igennem
Decent legs, good tropical aroma with some heat coming through. Soft and semi-smooth on the palate with some wood to finish.
the best cuba libre you can make is with the havana club 7.
Very smooth and sweet. Nice in the summertime!
I tried it with water and a couple of ice cubes. It was smooth enough but didn't have the nice flavor of the Appletons and El Dorado rums I have tried.
Havana Club 7-year was my introduction to the rum world, and as such I have remained quite partial to it. It's very pleasant to sip.
I'm no professional so I can't tell you much about the body and these things. But I think it's the perfect rum for a round of Cuba Libres with friends.
denne rom egner sig kun til at mixe. kunne forestille mig at den var god med cola.
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not as strong on the nose as the Especial and the molasses treacle flavour in this is a bit more mellow. More refined drop than its younger cousin. Noticed that the closure leaks when the bottle was unopened and the cap on my last bottle of Especial as well would not secure after opening..
