Gosling's Family Reserve Old

Lots of dried fruit and spicy flavours in this one. Marvellous!

As Goslings is predominantly used to set fire to or in a Dark & Stormy, my expectations were very high. But I was pleasantly surprised by this rum which has a good complexity, and a relatively smooth, sweet finish.
Worth having.

One of the very best rums I have had, whether it is worth the $60 price tag is a matter of preference. I would likely rather have a bottle of Mt gay extra old and a bottle of El Dorado 12, but this is one any rum lover should try once. Everything an aged rum should be - rich, complex, fruity, woody, with a sweet finish.

Awsome wax sealed bottle, the taste is pretty awsome as well. Mine came in a wooden box packed with straw around the bottle.

Gosling's Family Reserve is a blend from Bermuda. It comes from the same barrels as the Black Seal but is aged up to 16 years.
It has a very complex spicy nose which is really intense. It can literally fill the whole room.
Gosling's Family Reserve comes in a nice wax sealed and hand numbered bottle. It is very complex and combines a little sweetness with nuances of wood. It has spices, dried fruit, chocolate and tobacco and is very well balanced; soft all the way.
I was lucky to get my one for only $60 in Chicago and can only recommend to give it a try. You won't regret it.

A nice rich dark rum, with a heavy burnt sugar aroma and taste. For the price it is smooth but not characteristic of anything, just burnt sugar.

Great color, not floral, dark brown sugar.

Nothing to say about that rum that stand out of the crowd, has to be tryied...
