I am a neat sipper and I wanted to taste this one. I am very much surprised how enjoyable it is for its price (~12k HUF in Hungary).
I like heavier rums which contain mostly rum made in pot still. This is one of them, all the countries of origin use pot still, partially at least. According to the webpage, only Barbados component contains column still.
Dark colour, according to the webpage, a very small amount of caramel may have been added.
Quite heavy liquid, slowly moving in the glass. It has nice legs.
Nose is full of fruitiness, Jamaica, no doubt and a hint of Demerara as well. A good amount of barrel as well. Very nice.
Taste is what we can expect after the nose but in a more dense amount. After tasting, I would have guessed the alcohol somewhere between 50 and 55% but definitely not as sharp as it could be with its 69%. Very enjoyable. Finish is quite long.
After tasting, leaving the glass empty for some minutes, it has very nice smell of tobacco and raisins.
I would have given 8 for it but bringing its price into the picture, it is rather 9.
All in all, it is a very good rum according to my taste.
Robe rougeâtre, assez costaud, chaleur en bouche, demande à être bu sur glace. Goût épice présent. Bien pour les drinks.
Wray and nephew and this are the only overproof I stock. This is my favorite and one I use in cocktails a lot.
One of my favorite Plantations. I enjoy the flavor and sipping it neat or on ice. Always a repeat buy.
Surprisingly smooth mouth and throat presence for an overproof, but still has more kick than your daily go-to! Strong flavors of butter, raisin, and slight bitter tobacco that lingers for a bit. I find plantaion rums to run a bit sweet for my taste, but this one ended up in a good spot for me. I love this neat, but if you mix it, don't expect this one to hide.
This rum is too strong for me, though it tastes good, if I needed an overproof rum I would happily choose this.
I thought I have had some great rums until now. This blew me away. It frankly is far & away the best I've ever had. Now I know what great rum should taste like. Love the bit of Jamaican funk in this blend. I'm spoiled now and can't go back to my former favorites.
Aroma - fruity plums followed by molasses and fresh lime peels
Taste - rich molasses followed by beautiful brown sugar, fresh baked bread, and finished with barrel spices.
This is a punchy rum! If you are not used to overproof rums, this one is not a great place to start. However, if you are accustomed to overproof rums, this one is absolutely delicious. This rum sips well if you know the proper technique but it really shines in classic Tiki cocktails. It comes with a powerful taste with the abv to back it up too. For being priced anywhere from $16 to $26 for 1 liter, it is a great buy! This one definitely gets the recommendation from me.
It’s very intense, almost sickly sweet.
"It’s a sweet yet almost bitter, molasses heavy nose."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Outstanding blended overproof rum. Perhaps the best or even better alternative for the hardly available (in europe) Lemon Hart 151. Great for tiki drinks. One of few Plantation rums without added sugar.
