El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

i found this at a liquor store while traveling. The reviews were stellar and so at just under $50 I looked forward to sampling. What a huge disappointment. The next day I tried it again. No doubt it's smooth enough but the bottom line is it tastes like a good bourbon has been mixed with a mild an unassuming rum. It's like a slightly sweet, mild bourbon. The rest of the bottle will probably sit there a while.
Enjoy this rum very much dry and elegant but s bit short In the mouth
One of the good "beginners" rums on a higher end side. Not too sweet, great flavor, only thing separating it from next level is the smoothness.
This is the gold standard for me. This is perfect in so many ways. I like it much better than the 21 year, even.
Great rum! Deep list of flavors that cross your palate but leave you with a lasting tobacco and dates. Not overly sweet, judt enough to satisfy your cravings. Dont skip this one!
This as a rum by which I ask others to judge, dark but sweet, also my first offered when someone asks for a rum straight up at home.
Nice taste of brown sugar, some fruit, a hint of vanilla. A bit sweet (just the way I like it). To me is a little step below the Zacapa Solera 23, but a worthy competitor. Nice for sipping or mixed (although a bit pricey for mixing).
Dieser Rum isr was besonderes. Mir persönlich etwas zu scharf, aber trotzdem bei vielen Gästen sehr beliebt.
I know the 12, the 15 (this one) and the 21 year editions. And i have to say, the 15 years edit is an great sipper...always. For those who like smooth and round rums, you should give the 21 edit a try. But if you prefer a little bit more character the 15 years edit should be your choice.
This El Dorado is the cause for me being interested in rum in the first place. Really enjoyable straight up and definitely one I'd recommend to and serve people new to rum.
I do think it tastes similar to the 12-year version and if you're short on money you might as well try the 12-year instead.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...

Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A dark thick liquor with a sweet taste and strong in alcohol. The age really comes through and is a really good drink.
