Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

A very nice way in to rum. It may be sweetened, but it is not over done.

One friend praised the rum for drinking two bottles with his wife. But what is it? I couldn't finish it. I don't like it at all, I believe there are other batches and not every bottle can taste the same, but I close this chapter. The magic thing is that I gave the 15th version a chance and it has become my absolute icon for rum and I'm still coming back to it.

Reading the reviews I was looking forward to this rum. But having since having tried it on two different occasions it has been a disappointment. There is technically nothing wrong, but I find it carries a bitterness that, say, an equivalent Appleton Estate does not. As such, my money will always goes elsewhere.
Sharp at the frist zip, but it get smoother. Great rum, with nice spices
The first rum I have ever tried and got inloved with it
For the price is excellent.. Aroma.. Taste.. After taste

This rum is unique for me. Very easy to sip, and enjoyable. The flavors are what are different. Much earthier and less sweet than I prefer. Still good to have and sip to switch things up.

It is not the best rum I have tasted, not even close, but the best rum in the price range in which I can buy it (25 euros). Better rums cost double. Hence the 9.

Without a doubt one of the best rums that Β£30.00 will get you, an absolute crime if you mixed it, a real sipping pleasure. The taste is sweet spice with hints of fruit and caramel. You then get a mild to medium warmth from the alcohol as you swallow. When drank neat the flavors are intense and its quite smooth and easy to drink especially if you have a sweet tooth. Ice can dilute the flavour i found so drinking it neat for me is the way to go. The only downside is you have to show restraint as you could easily drink half the bottle in a evening.
