This may not be the greatest and truest rum of all time, but it is sweet, complex , easy to find, and a lot better than other similarly available rums. i like it in mixed drinks, but is just as good for a sipper. It is very sweet.
After tasting over 30 rums, this one still remains my favourite.
I like a very soft taste and this one does just that.

If you like fruity but not a strong presence of any specific fruit, you'll love this. I have the strange feeling of this rum having just slightly more sugar than how I like it, but no, it isn't the case. The sugar content is just perfect, it's the fruity smells I am not used to in a rum. I am giving 9 points only because I know there exist even better rums.

This has become one of my favorite 'everyday' rum. Plenty of flavor and a great value.

A taste that won't disappoint anyone, it's not the best rum I've ever drunk, but you can't go wrong with this rum

Sweet with hints of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, banana, and a smooth alcoholic finish.
Really great for sipping.
Would be good for mixing too, though I think it's a shame not to sip it.
But after around 50-70 different brands i dont like it anymore. Because it's not really a rum,its (more) a a liqueur. It has plenty of added sugar and lots of (artificial) vanilla aroma. I won't say its a bad rum, but for me its a "okay" rum flavored with a lot of stuff. Having it here with now a voting of 7,9 is... a miracle.
My voting will be very unpopular, but it's okay for me. With lots of ice, its a 4. Sad but true.

Great all round rum that is easy to drink both straight and with mixers
I've only been exploring sipping rums for a few months--bourbon and vodka became boring to me--and while it has its critics, after purchasing half a dozen others in the $40-$50 range the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is my one of my clear favorites. Some say it's overly sweet due to added sugar but to me it goes down VERY easily and tastily. Reviews are split...some say it's among the best of all rums while a few others say it's not rum but pancake syrup...people either love it or hate it, and I'm among the former. Yes, if you're a connoisseur and a purist you might not care for it...or on the other hand you might praise it, whatever floats your boat. Be aware, it is sweet but to me the sugar is not overwhelming at all. If you're a beginner, I recommend it. It's affordable and if you're just starting to explore rums that deserve to be sipped, this is a good one to start with.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."
