This is one of my favorite rums of all time period. And a delicious overproof that cuts through painkillers and pina coladas with serious funk and bite. It’s a great addition, blended with tamer white rums, into mojitos and daiquiris. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Move over Wray & nephews. There’s a new overproof white rum in town. Hampden outdid themselves here.

Strap yourself in cause you can breath fire. Explosion bomb of burned mollasses overipe fruit and esters.

Neskutečná ovocná vůně! Má největší obsah esterů v Operproof.
Cítím banány a ananas.Ten rum jde cítit již z dálky a voní překrásně.
Silná chuť. Výrazná a kořenitá. Chuť kvasu.

Ester aroma, quick gentle sweet touch in the beginning and then ethanol boom, oak in the aftertaste.

Cane and overripe tropical fruit smell. Taste is less fruity than what I would expect. Dry, glueish, nice oaky tail.

Wasn’t the easiest to track down. Said to not be a sipper, but I found it to be enjoyable. Where it excels is mixing. Has a good funk. A little heat - I found cinnamon, not the consensus here. Fruity aroma. This turned into my go to White

Nose: Rich fresh pineapples and cherries. Dried plum puree, blueberry jam, and warm apple pie. This is such a colorful nose. Lemongrass cooking in butter and rosemary, followed by olives and ginger skin. European brunch. I love that the funk doesn't translate to the typical synthetic aromas.

Palate: At the arrival, it is quite similar to the nose: pineapples, blueberries, olives, and apple pie. However, midway through, it takes a sharp turn into new territory: limestone, dalandan, dusty cabinets, and tamarinds. Hints of candied cherries here and there. The end of the development brings along singed wood and an echo of sour candy. Designed for use in cocktails yet works if taken neat.

Finish: Long, nutty, and slightly drying. Final jabs of canned fruit.

This is great stuff when used right. Definition of funk. Just a quarter to half ounce in a cocktail does the trick. Economical too. Don't think of this as a sipper or a base mixer. This is a condiment.

the Rum Fire is simply the best Overproof I have tasted.
It is powerful and extremely fragrant. It can be enjoyed on its own or as a cocktail. I highly recommend it. This is not a beginner's rum !!!

Rum Fire isn’t bad, but…it’s not great, either. At 126 proof, unaged, pot still, and somewhat funky, there’s no doubt which market segment it’s trying to take over.

But, for me, it fails to capture the magic of its competitor. It’s less funky, has a noticeable alcohol burn (perhaps why it’s called Rum Fire), and just feels a little hollow.

I’d heard such good things, and was really looking forward to trying some, but I just can’t seem myself keeping this in stock when this bottle runs out.

It’s not awful and if it’s the only rum in its class you can find, it’s worth picking up. But it’s not really a sipper, and if you’re after funkifying a cocktail, there’s funkier out there.

I’ll just go ahead and name names: this rum is good, but I don’t see a reason to buy it for anyone able to get their hands on Wray and Nephew.
