Just before tasting this rum I had tasted and reviewed the Flor de Cana Gran Reserva 7-year.

First off, there's very little difference between the two.

The aroma is just about the same however this is a lighter amber...almost a liquid golden hue.

The flavor is complex as well. Just not as complex and smooth as the 7-year. But close. I pick up on the initial hint of sweetness and vanilla and then the oak flavor. A dry finish as well. Just not quite as smooth at the 7-year.

I give both rums a 7 but it is more along the lines of a 7.75 for the 7-year as opposed to a 7.0 for the 4 year. A tad too rough to be a sipping rum for most but a great mixing rum.

Definitely recommendable.

Un ron que no está nada mal, sobre todo por la relación calidad/precio. Para tomar en cocteles.

Cheap enough to add some depth of flavor to a tiki cocktail, and cheap enough to not feel bad mixing it.. still good enough to sip neat or on the rocks.

Not bad, good with Coke or others mixing. A nice looking rum.

Smooth, even flavor. Caribbean style, which is not my personal favorite, but this was enjoyable. Great value.

As a beginner to rums, trying it neat or on the rocks was too harsh. It mixed well with coke and would probably be good with other cocktails (like mai tais).

This is my go to for a mojito. Fresh mint from the yard, limes, a bit of sugar and FdC 4 year. Amazing.

Excelente ron para mezclar .. ron con coca una excelente opción, grata sorpresa. Ron un poco dulce y con poco sabor a madera comparado con el resto de los rones de flor de caña.

This was a good rum. I don't LOVE it, but nothing to complain about. Good flavor, nice finish. Good with Coke.

Not smooth enough for a Sipping Rum, but ideal for mixing with coke

A good start for tasting rums in Nicaragua. It's very smooth and you can drink it straight up or mixed.
