Old Monk XXX 7-Year

This rum is ok! Its sort of thin and tingley and toffee-y. There is a small amount of bitterness in the end. I love love love the packaging, and I could easily drink the bottle.

So, this rum feels like a complete gimmick. Very heavily flavored, very heavily colored, very heavily manufactured to produce a "unique" and interesting experience. It's not really cutting it for me. It does taste alright, but after one bottle of things I feel I won't ever want to taste it again. The vanilla is way overdone. I also do not like the bottle. It comes with a pouring spout, and the shape is unintuitive and difficult to use.

It has a vanilla smell to it and goes down pretty smooth. It does have quite a powerful punch that hits relatively quick. I would definitely try it again.

Who knew there was rum from India. A little hard to find.
Great mahogany color. Nice trails in the glass. Mine is 80pf. Caramel and butterscotch on the nose. A little burn on the tongue with honey on the chew. Finish is so-so smooth and not long.

A solid choice at that price point. Not disappoint. Not overly spiced but certainly strong notes of oak, liquorice, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Almost feels like sipping at a tiramisu.
Leathery, silky feel in the mouth.
Not harsh at all, and not too sweet. Very well-balanced, but becomes spicier and spicier at sipping it.

Моя любимая выдержка в 7 лет на этот раз оказалось базовой. Ниже этого уровня Old Monk брать категорически нельзя. Да и этот ром можно пить если вы путешествуете по Индии. В другом случае рекомендую обратить свой взор на сорта из Латинской Америки.

I can't help myself but this rum had harsh alcohol taste mixed with vanilla. I had to throw up after I tasted it. Sorry.

To my surprise it's pretty good. Lowering alcohol from 42,8% to 40 would improve the taste.
Tried "For overseas export only" version.

If you’ve not drunk rum for over 8 months, this could serve as a reminder for your palette.

Purchased a bottle outside Chattanooga TN. I'm a big fan of this rum. Has all the sweetness and caramel of the Indian rums, but there's a tobacco and raisin undertone. My pick of the litter.
