Solid rum but price is too high... in this price range is much more better rums like presidente 19y, abuelo 12y and so on...
But it is smooth, not that sweet with aroma of sugar cane and wood: In mouth you can feel caramel, oak and sugar cane. Not bad at all but overpriced.

Got this as a present. It has got a strong alcohol smell and what a pitty that the taste isn't fantastic either! I just can't rate this one higher than a 5. Not my kind of rum!

Ron Cubay rums are reIatively inexpensive. I actually enjoy the younger Rums in the Ron Cubay line better. This offering is good, different than the younger, but not to my preference. I wish we could buy the brand in Canada.

This is a nice introduction to Cuban rums. It has a nice nice that brings up both fruit and some wood. The initial taste is slightly sweet but then you also taste the wood and slight hints of tobacco. Overall a very nice sipping rum.

Sampled the Ron Cubay selection at their stall at Rum Festival Cardiff on the weekend.

Traditional style Cuban dark rum, well aged in charred oak with lots of character. Makes a good sipping rum sweet, smooth and loads of vanilla!

Bottle: Too ordinary, nice relief of Cuba - 0/0,5
Colour: Dark amber
Aroma: Very nice. I smell some vanilla and other sweet tones. - 1/2
Taste: It is not agressive on the tongue. Sweet. Somewhat unpleasant. Probably good for mixing.- 2/5,5
Aftertaste: Strong aftertaste. - 1/2

There is nothing wrong with this rum, but ultimately it leaves me a little indifferent. Others have said it is good as a mixer, but I am not a fan of mixing rum, so straight up it is. I can drink it quite happily and easily. Smooth...vanilla and caramel, with a nice gentle bite on the finish from the spirit. Medium bodied, short-medium length with caramel and hints of coffee and a fine dryness.

Would I buy again? Probably. Maybe! But..... I wouldn't rush out to get another bottle, not least because of the price. Taking off all the Duty and sales taxes, this is 50% more than my current favourites and go to rums of Sunset Captain Bligh and/or Bermudez 1852 Aniversario 12yo, both of which I find much more interesting, complex and rewarding to drink.
