Definitely not a rum you enjoy straight up, but it does mix well.
Well, its cheap and easy to drink.
Not great as a sipper, but it's ok.
Good with coke.

In Eye it looks like a decent rum, however the flavor and nose are really poor, a bit better than the extra añejo but I still missing something.
I haven't tried older and escalated brugal rums, but I have tasted some añejos and they disappointments me

Tried this rum straight at a family get together and I was certainly not impressed.
Not quite smooth enough to enjoy straight and if your going to mix you might as well go cheaper.
Easy to drink. Good taste.

It has chocolate and peppery taste to it. Nothing special and would recommend with coke.

Brugal Anejo Reserva is a pretty common rum at the all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.
It isn't so much that it is too harsh to be enjoyed neat, it just doesn't have the flavor or depth to be enjoyed that way.
If you get any more than 2 parts Coke to 1 part Anejo Reserva the Coke will pretty much hide the rum flavor as it is quite mild for a darker rum.
Overall, not bad for its intended use as a high volume spirit in the resorts.
