Papalin Jamaica 7-Year

This is vatted rum of two Jamaican rums, from Worthy Park and Hampden.
It is good, but I was expecting a slightly better rum as both distilleries produce about the best spirits in the world.
For me this is not 'the best of both', although the ripe bananas, honeysuckle and spicy, woody finish are simply good.

Whatever I expected from a blend of tropically aged Worthy Park and Hampden, it wasn't this. This is a bottle I only sip straight, mostly because the flavor is so pleasantly delicate that it gets lost in as little as an old fashioned. The qualities you'd look for in both Worthy Park and Hampden are here, but in such a tremendous restraint that it's legitimately shocking. It has the most refined nose of any offering I've encountered from either of these distilleries... even my nearly-teetotaling mother in law thought it smelled nice.

Pot still & 7 years aging for a peppery, funky rum.

I love Jamaican rum but ones that are not overly funky, (hampden the younger or worthy park) but this leans way too close to an agricole flavor that is not my thing. Add +2 if it is

Nalahvován v prosinci 2021.
Vyrobeno 6000 lahví.

Aroma: Pronikavé a intenzivní - přezrálé tropické ovoce (banány, ananas), med, třtina. Na pozadí stopa nemocniční dezinfekce. WP styl krásně rozpoznatelný.
Chuť: Ovocná, mízovitá, bylinková.
Dozvuk: Med, ovoce, pepř a dotek hořkého dřeva. Střední.

Ochutnán vzorek
Klasická, dobrá Jamajka. V porovnání s Navy Proof (který je akorát pepřovější) hodnotím oba shodně.

Must buy for fans of Jamaican rum - rich and deep funk; overripe banana, pineapple, apricot with a touch of rich molasses and toffee. Tastes like the first hot day of the summer before the humidity gets too high. A bit of a bite, though not unpleasant. A fine addition - this rum will shine in straightforward, simple drinks, or on it’s own

Již ve vůni cítím ,,zatuchlou trávu", typickou vůni Jamajských rumů i když je taková slaboučká, jakoby se ji pokoušel někdo schovat.
V chuti je to už podstatně lepší, ,,tráva" vystupuje vcelku příjemně do popředí, je jemná a zůstává poměrně dlouho na patře.

A rum of famous name brought to the recent degustation. Didn't like it and so as my friends (mostly all advanced drinkers) as too dry, kinda watery, generally under average taste and no character found (the nose is way better though). Reminded me of Yellow Snake rum, which is (I think) really bad Jamaica.
