Very similar to the 2020, but I get a bit less rubber/oil and more fruity esters in this one. Still amazing, complex, and love it.

I tasted the funkiness that comes with Jamaican rums, but it also had a nice dry, oaky flavor. It’s not sweet at all and has that high proof taste. I enjoyed it with lime and a splash of Coke.

Another fantastic bottling from Hampden. Slightly lower proof than the prior year, but still a nice 55% ABV. Everything that I like about the 2020 comes through here, but it's just ever so slightly short of that perfection.

Still a fantastic choice and a rum I'd recommend to anyone.

This is really rather special. All the typical Hampden flavours but with its own delicious spin on things.
The funk is there along with something slightly liquorice like, but it plays second fiddle to wood, varnish and other volatiles, with a dryness and modest burn pushing through.
Compared to the HLCF Classic, it's much less funky - there's little of all those crazy flavours in here - and the cask influence is much more of a feature here. This has a greater similarity to the 8YO, but with added complexity, woodiness and concentration of flavour.
The 2020 didn't really do it for me, but this I really rather like. Just sad they're all gone and that were pushing £100. Enjoying this sample though.

2. Onto Hampden Great House 2021 sample. This funky Jamaican rum smells quality and appears to be a little sweeter than the 2020 version, which knocked my socks off earlier this year. Totally different than Bajan rums but almost just as good (IMO). Definitely glad I recently acquired 2 bottles of this rum.

Rum by měl být blendem v poměru 80% LFCH 2014 (7yo) a 20% C<>H 2017 (4yo).
Vyrobeno bylo 2400 lahví.

Aroma: V popředí dominuje třtina, med, jód a bylinky. Spíš než tropické ovoce cítím pomeranče. Řekl bych, že je podstatně méně esterový než GH 2020.
Chuť: Překvapivě docela sladká - tropické ovoce, lehce kořenitá. Určitě jemnější než GH 2020.
Dozvuk: Trpce medový, travnatý, tinkturový, mirabelky a sušené ovoce (meruňky). Dlouhý, svěží.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
V porovnání s GH 2020 je jemnější, sladší a méně esterový. Oba hodnotím stejně 9/10.

I'm not one who is a fan of overly oaked rums. I think they have their place though. This rum is a very juicy offering from Hampden. I have tried most of their standard offerings and this is in a league of it's own. A little oak on the back end but not too much. One complaint I have heard of Hampden is that the nose is better than the taste, this tastes exactly like the nose. Amazing.
