Hampden Estate Great House Distillery 2020 Edition

9.00/10 at first sip I wasn't captivated but after allowing some time to open up, it proved to be an exquisite blend that really does showcase how great Hampden's product is.

Hampden Estate Great House je pojmenovaný po rodinné rezidenci, která byla postavena v roce 1753. Lahvován je pod značkou Velier, ovšem za rumem stojí master blender Hampdenu Vivian Wisdom.
Rum je blendem v poměru 80% OWH 2012 (8yo) a 20% DOK 2016 (4yo).
Vyrobeno bylo 5800 lahví.

Aroma: Výrazné a pronikavé - spousta šťavnatého tropického ovoce (banán, ananas, mango), rozkvetlé květiny, med. Na pozadí tóny lepidla a gumy.
Chuť: Petrolejová, šťavnatě ovocná, trpká a svíravá.
Dozvuk: Mirabelky, špendlíky, tinktura, závan jódu a sušené ovoce. Dlouhý.
Sladkost: 0/3
Celá lahev
Porovnával jsem s GH 2021, který byl lehce odlišný - jemnější a sladší. Oba v konečném výsledku hodnotím shodně 9/10.

The Great House is exactly what i expected... fantastic!!!
Classic fruity funky nose and taste with burnt banana and vanille.

It minds me a bit of the new Hampden Estate 8 years old, but this is a bit more complex. A mix of 20% <>H 2017 and 80% OWH 2013 with ABV 59. - Go Try It!.!

Závěr sladký, jemný až karamelkový

Nose : Amazing. Smell really good.
Taste : 59° proof. It is surprisingly strong on the first sip, it burns.
But once you learned to drink it slowly, with very small sips, all the flavours are revealing. Very long lasting. I like it as a digestive with ice cubes to lower the alcohol degree.

Really good rum. Fortunate enough to have a friend share with me. Funky for sure, all in a good way. Strong, spicy, fruity, mild wood note. Does not burn much for the ABV, but it does clear the sinuses! Opens up nicely with some time in the glass. I found nothing off-putting about this one.

This was the first Jamaican rum I've had that made me say, "that's funky". What a difference to the normal rums I enjoy. I liked it, but I can see only having this when I am in the mood for something different. I went back and tasted a few other Jamaican rums I had and was better able to taste some of the same notes in those after the Great House.

The nose was all bananas, bread, brown sugar, floral and a hint of sweat (yes, that's sweat not sweet). On the palate it was crisp, with herbal notes, dried fruits, and dark chocolate. The finish went on forever with a slight heat, wood, and - much to my surprise and enjoyment - the taste of roasted peanuts.

This is very very good but after having the LROK and Overproof this Great House kind of gets lost. A smidge overpriced for what you get, IMO. Still love everything Hampden puts out.

Adorable GH absolutely fits for purpose from my point of view, harmonic wooden tail with taste of jamaica, it makes me with outstanding fruit balance 😎

Rum jsem objednal na základě recenzí na internetu, kde byl jen chválen. Přesto, že rumy z Jamajky moc nemusím, u tohoto rumu jsem čekal na druhou ochutnávku, abych mohl napsat jak mi chutná. Při první ochutnávce nic moc, ale dnes cítím ovocnou sladkost a trochu technických chutí s typickou chutí jamajských rumů . chuť a vůni zatuchlé trávy. Tato kombinace je ve výsledku docela lahodná a začíná mi chutnat víc a víc.
