I canโ€™t believe this has so little aging to it. Lots of funky, banana-y aroma and flavor. A hint of liquid smoke aroma. I also taste something like those salty burnt pieces you find in a bag of sunflower seeds. When the rum hits front of your tongue, you get a creamy vanilla flavor. Overall a really nice rum with lots of character.

There's no way to drink this as is unless your taste buds are out of order. In a cocktail you can use a small amount of this and actually get nice funky rotten banana flavors, but don't go smelling the stuff or tasting it on its own. You'll throw up.

Don't turn you nose up at this unaged ovenproof rum. This is magic in a bottle. This ain't for frat boys slam shots (like Bacardi 151 back in the day).

Terroir; this is what Jamaica tastes like.

This stuff is funkier than Bootsy Collins drinking a funk-shake that he millked of some freaky funk-ball.

Drink it with a little water if it is too hot for you. A few drops opens it up nicely.

A 1/4 Oz in a cocktail will bring the funk to any drink.

Just pure burn, do not take a shot of this stuff if your over 50, itโ€™s pure Engine fuel, I think you mix it in rum punch with some sweeter golden rum and serve it on the tourist boats to take you there.

The first overproof rum I tried, and the one I always keep on the shelf. It's aroma and flavor are unmistakable, perhaps a bit "headsy" but pungent and bright. Compared to it's brethren Rum Fire, this is far more versatile, a bit smoother, and also less costly. It packs a wallop of flavor that doesn't overpower the drink.

Don't waste your time drinking it neat. This is a solid base for anything calling for a white spirit or tequila. And for that, there is no better white rum than the W&N Overproof.

I don't get why people don't appreciate this rum more. For being the hands-down biggest seller in Jamaica, you'd think it'd get more respect abroad. Thick, funky, pungent, and of course, strong. It's a punch rum, but it has its place in cocktails as well.

Wow, if I have a large double, will I go blind?
An interesting taste and aroma.
This was a gift, not sure if I would purchase another when finished with this one...if I ever do

Even without lime (which is preferable) this gives a great citrusy taste when mixed with coke, pleasant burn and a gentle warming feeling.

I don't think you need another white rum.

I have been trying to finish this bottle for 2 years, I gave it away twice, and it came back, like a bad penny. If I had known it was so bad, I would have bought 151. At least it tastes like rum. I thought it was a spoiled batch, until I read some other reviews. I can't even describe the taste. To call it gasoline, would be bad for the hydrocarbon.

Classic over proof with one hell of a bite. Unique flavor that is not meant for everyone, this rum is great for mixed tropical drinks.

Not sure I follow all of the "hate" on this one, but I'll attribute a fair amount of that to being unused to Jamaican funk and overproof spirits. Not capping on anybody, just sayin' - know what you're getting into before you go down this road...

It does have the funk as one would expect, but not quite as funky as many other Jamaicans - pleasant nose with some fruitiness and a vegetal note, not nearly as much alcohol as I would have expected (but it is there).

Palate - the banana and pineapple are there in force along with other fruit notes on the arrival. A nice sweetness that compliments well. I get pepper and cinnamon along with some other spice midway through, maybe a tad of citrus? (Still debating that...) A slight oilyness, light-medium body with a medium finish, ending with a hint of molasses and some vegetal tone. Lacks the plastic/vinyl notes I get from Rum Fire as a comparison. I like Rum Fire, but I think I prefer the W&N to that one overall, nicely balanced.

I definitely enjoy this one and could actually sip it on a regular basis. Also does well in a Nuclear Daiquiri. Feel free to try it as you will, but do NOT expect this to work properly in cocktails specifically calling for a light, "white" rum. I've rated this at an 8 on overall flavor and performance relative to price. It's certainly at least a "must try", but if you're not used to high ester rums or Jamaican funk, tread lightly.
