A very, very strong drop. Have a shot on its own and you will know about it for the next hour! With a mixer a nice drop

I’m not one for white, or, unaged rums. But uncharacteristically, I found myself on the precipice of being my wife’s in-home rum expert for a Halloween party punch. Naturally, Jamaican is my punch go-to. But to please an uneducated rum palate, and still make a party-pleasing, “boozy punch”, my first to mind is the legendary J Wray white. Hit the mark, nice added funk, strong drink.

Personally did not enjoy but its useful for cocktails due to proof, not saying its bad just not for me flavor wise.Try it you never know what you'll like.

This is a Jamaican flavour bomb.

As others have said, this is not for sipping - it's akin to a concentrate and more overpowering than enjoyable.

However, I'm not much for mixed drinks, so I bought it to see whether it would liven up Appleton Signature blend, which is decent, but not as rich as the 8-year that I prefer, but do not want to spend the money on very often.

A small amount of the W&N mixed in with the signature blend gives you something with a bit more character, not entirely like the 8-year, but close enough.

So forget the water and try diluting your rum with rum!

Suprising that something not aged can have so much forward flavor. For an ovenproof this is much more than just ethanol heavy.

While not called for in many mixed drinks as other overproofs (see: Tiki's endless love of 151 proof Demerara), this rum can certainly shine through in the right drink. Just don't make the same mistake I did when I started drinking rum and assume this is basically the same as any other white rum.

Not for sipping. But dang does it amp up any cocktail. Crucial bar component.

This rum definitely has an interesting aroma and is a very nice yet popular Jamaican rum. In my opinion I do believe this rum is best used in cocktails

As a whisky drinker I find this a highly entertaining - although batshit crazy - drink. Neat with a tsb of water.

Wray & Nephew is a very surprising Overproof.
It’s very funky !!! We can smell banana and very ripe fruits. The alcohol is well integrated, it heats without burning.
I like to drink it on its own with an ice cube but it works very well in Tiki cocktails.

I recommend, it's a great rum. Can't wait to taste Hampden's Rum Fire
