Fire and grapefruit and signature Jamaican funk. Until Rum-Bar (Worthy Park Estate) and Rum Fire (Hampden Estate) came around with their excellent unaged pot still rums, this was the closest you could get to rum at its most elemental.
Still a must-try for anyone into rum, but no longer the most important product in the category.
Not for the faint hearted, will either kill you or make you stronger.
Only ever had it with a ting (and how that drink isn't call a tingwray is still shocking for me), but I really enjoy that combo.
Good kick and a Strong aroma of bananas that brings back memories of being on a beach in Montego. Only tolerable with a mixer. Not for me.
My first overproof. Smoother than I expected. Not bad at all.
That pungent Jamaican rum aroma is what keeps me buying this bottle. I highly recommend mixing with lime juice and grapefruit soda. Probably my favorite way to enjoy W&N.
Does not make the best daiquiri. Its too strongly flavored and high ABV for such a delicate drink.
I dare say its a great bottle to 'do some shots' with friends.
great for rum punches mojitos etc neat hold on it has a bite definately worth the money
Hey, all things are relative! If you've picked this up after previously buying Bicardi, this is going to blow your mind. Fire, brimstone, lemon and that weird ass funk, that even diluted in a cocktail, you're sure not going to miss. I mean this is Notting Hill Carnival in a glass.
But if you're coming from the land of pot still madness - clairin, Rum-Bar, Rum Fire, Rivers Royale - or blanc agricole, this is very manageable, and possibly a little tame, but hey, it's ยฃ26 rather than ยฃ53!
In all honesty, this is a little industrial, if way more flavourful than the same distillery's Kingston 62. A little oily, fragrant with citrus, dry with cane coming out along the way ,you can drink this straight if that's your thing. In a cocktail however, it adds depth and a kick to a Hurricane. The smell is subtle por still, the flavour, depths of sugar, and a bit of that chemistry lab weird vibe people seem to either live or hate.
I was looking for a cut price clairin to bring the funk to cocktails, and I think this will hit the spot. Mixing this 50/50 with Copalli really lifts both, bringing balance, power and flavour all to the mix. I totally get why bars keep this to hand, and also why it's Jamaica's No.1.
Get notable citrus and vegetal/grassy aromas.
"Despite the funk and grassy aromas there is still a fair amount of sweetness on the nose. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I canโt believe this has so little aging to it. Lots of funky, banana-y aroma and flavor. A hint of liquid smoke aroma. I also taste something like those salty burnt pieces you find in a bag of sunflower seeds. When the rum hits front of your tongue, you get a creamy vanilla flavor. Overall a really nice rum with lots of character.
