I can't say this is the best rum on the planet, but in the USA it is a special treat to get a bottle of authentic Cuban Rum. Knowing that this rum is specially selected by the Maestros of Havana Club, I consider this a bit a pallet training to know what rum not soaked in used Jack Daniels barrels should taste like.
Another good all round rum with lots of flavour, slightly more expensive
Simply expected more from this rum. But what can I say. It is Havana club. Shouldn't expect much...
I've always liked the 3 yo HC and it's typical flavor profile. This one, I've always wanted to try as it was recommended to me. Comparing it directly to the 15 yo and the tributo 2021, yes, the tributo was better - more refined, balanced etc. - but the SDM's flavor profile heads in the very same direction at less that an 10th of the price. Liked it very much and also got it for 35 euros. The 15 yo is also nice but with very different flavors at 4 times the price. So, SDM is definitely my winner.
pokud není člověk zaujatý vůči značce, bude mile překvapen
Havana Club Selección de Maestros has a unique flavour compared to most runs. .It’s rich and complex, I get a lot of cognac flavours, light fruits, grape initially, then develops into darker fruits, oak and spices. Its also far less sweet than most rums. Its beautifully balanced. and has a long finish.Absolutely worth getting if you get the chance.
Typical HC profile but slightly more elegant. This is a treat on a warm day and is elevated when paired with the nations finest cigars...
Highly recommended for when a simple rum is needed.
It smells of apricot and peaches.
"Well blended and well-balanced spirit that it’s smoothness shines through. There is very little roughness or aggressive spirit tones when sipped."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Ive noticed how few comments describe the flavours in this rum , its very difficult to find them.. maybe wood , leather and that's about it ? Lovely gold/straw colour , strong ethanol smell upon opening . An ice cube makes it creamier. A really well made not sweetened enjoyable rum. For a longer drink this makes an outstanding (expensive) cuba libre... 7.5 overall.
