Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.

The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

On the nose I had given this a 7 -very pleasant but on the mouth got the usual Appleton sweet flavor and burn. For this I had given it a 5. Again with most Appleton's it is best as a mixing rum. Although it deserves a try with water or let it sit for 30 minutes or so to tone down the burn.

Pero es sobre todo el sabor...tiene demasiado regaliz, está bueno sobre todo si bebes y bebés al final ...riquísimo pero para mí es un 6 no se notan esos 12 años, tampoco es caro 17'50€

I was a little disappointed with this one. Not very smooth. Also, not sweet enough for me.

Appleton Estate 12 is good enough to sip, but primarily enjoyable to those who like some harshness in their rums. It's got a bit of complexity, some spice, no sweetness, and a strong alcohol finish.

The flavor is complex and tasty. It might taste richer if the spirits weren't so strong. As a sipper, it's no good. But in mixed drinks, the flavor shine through more.

Rien d'extraordinaire sauf qu'il représente bien son origine ...je le trouve quelque peu agressif.

In my opinion, you don’t really age rum — it gets spoiled.

Whisky needs it, but you can over-age that too, and take out the character. I think people are only aging rum these days to appeal to Scotch drinkers who don’t know better. You end up with a bland, syruppy thing on your hands.

That said, Appleton 12-yo is pretty good, but suffers somewhat from the above defects.

As to why anyone would buy their 30-yo — some people have more money than sense!

Nice smell, with caramel hints. Tasting good. Reccomend
