Price/quality is very fair. It's not an expensive rum and you get what you pay for. Prefer this above any other low classed spiced rum.

Captain Morgan Mango And Pineapple rum

This literally tastes like a fair. Cheap ass pink drink that tastes like flugel waterder down with a carnival workers piss. Would not even serve this to my ex, and she's Satan.

La Maison Du Rhum Reunion rum

La Maison Du Rhum Reunion review posted over 3 years ago by vomi1011 🇩🇪 | 402 ratings

Since Savanna Herr I wanted to try another rum from Re Union. This is more a classic style, not a funky stuff.
The smell is like you stick your nose in a sack of grains. After 1h in the glase it's the same.

The taste starts with grains, some wood and orage. It's not very sweet, I would also enjoy some hints of caramel.
But quite intensive smell, the dilution is almost not noticeable.
There are some tannins in the taste, the bitterness suggest a 15y old rum, not a 10y old.
The start is almost like the nose, dominated by grains. Not sweet, with wood and some oranges. In the middle there is more intensity with additional flavors.
The finish is middle long. The aftertaste, mint with leather reminds me of a Rum Nation Caroni, it's very tasty.
Solid rum and for 0.7l not expensive. I would give this one 84 points. With some sweeter notes it would get more points.

Nose: burned sugar, citrus, grains (buckwheat, raye), medical note, caramel, some spice (pepper), fruit (like Jamaica)
Taste initial: grains, citrus, salt, wood, some orange
Middle: buckwheat, barrel (earth), paper, orange peels (bitterness), wood and tanins
Finish: spice, citrus, bitterness (wood), medical note, bourbon, buckwheat, mint
Aftertaste: peppermint, leather (uhh, that's tasty)

Sweetness: 1.5/5
Fruit: 2/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 3/5
Complexity: 3.5/5
Value (51€): 3.5/5
Experience level: professional

Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve rum

Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve review posted over 3 years ago by Rotem oren 🇮🇱 | 11 ratings

It is a good rum. But not the best in my taste. Smooth and gentle in the beginning. Then the bourbon cask kicks in followed by a hint of sweetness.
Not as sweet as most of Plantation's products.

Price does not equate to quality

Price vs taste: to me it's not that simple an issue. However, I am in the fortunate position of running a booze company and can usually put through bottles on the company as well as having access to agents and good prices. But still, I want value for money.. I have my cheaper, every day rums that I expect to be good (but not excellent) but also at good prices. These are the sort of Doorley'...

Very nice balance between sweet and spice. This drinks very nicely neat with a long aftertaste that doesn't turn bitter later. Notes of vanilla, plum, coffee, black pepper and cinnamon for me.

Price is very good too, this can easily be sold for more, but they don't, because they are nice like that... Just like the rum :)

RL Seale ABV 43 10-Year rum

RL Seale ABV 43 10-Year review posted over 3 years ago by Steve Tweed 🇺🇸 | 1 rating

RL Seale rum from Foursquare distillery is an awesome sipping rum. This is pure rum, no additives to change the product. You get a wonderful nose full after the pour, and caramel vanilla and toffee during the drink. A little burn but it's a really nice burn! With this price point it's something that should always be on your shelf! Cheers!

Bacardi Oakheart rum

Bacardi Oakheart review posted over 3 years ago by Torch 🇳🇱 | 6 ratings

Not great for a neat experience. Ice won't complement it either. Mix it with a coke or your choice of cocktail and it becomes relevant. It gives your mix a deep smooth sweetness with a generously acceptable amount of alcohol.

It's ok to have.

Bavaro Grand Bruleé rum

Bavaro Grand Bruleé review posted over 3 years ago by WhizKid21 🇺🇸 | 1 rating

This is hands-down, one of my all-time favorite spirits. I purchased a bottle on my way home from the Dominican Republic about six years ago. The only mistake I made, was not buying more than one bottle. This rum is a perfect standalone spirit. To mix it with anything would be criminal.

This rum has a deep, rich, almost buttery caramel flavor. Just add ice and admire it’s deep amber collar before sipping.

The Bumbu is definitely a rum more then the original which is nice
It’s smooth with a semi- sweetness to it
I gave it a 7 but might come back to adjust after another tasting
Just not sure 🤔 if it’s an actual 7 or maybe a 6
Much better then the sickening sweetness of the original so that’s a start

Doesn’t work! Agricole and Highland Scotch. Sorry, I like both very much. I like steak and coconut too, but not together! This works in reverse. First you taste the highland malt and then it finishes with earthy notes. Just not a good pairing! Isla Scotch will work better. I reference Plantation 2007 Trinidad Kilchoman Peated Whisky Cask Now this is good stuff! Pay attention HSE!

La Mauny 1749 Ambre rum

La Mauny 1749 Ambre review posted over 3 years ago by Docsarvis (PREMIUM) 🇺🇸 | 502 ratings

Tried the VSOP yesterday. It was outstanding. My favorite agricole. I did not expect much from this one. It isn’t as good as the VSOP but it beats any Clement I have tried including the Clement VSOP. Smooth as silk. Earthy, grassy notes evident, but not overpowering. Some subtle sweetness. Complex with bright fruits and sugar cane. Thus is a great value. If you like agricole check out La Mauny. Definitely my favorite agricole distiller to date.

Foursquare Hereditas 14-Year rum

Foursquare Hereditas 14-Year review posted over 3 years ago by Docsarvis (PREMIUM) 🇺🇸 | 502 ratings

Whisky characteristics would normally be a big plus for me. Don’t get me wrong, this is good. This is clearly a crafted distillation. The nose is downright BAD. The rum is smooth, complex and has the perfect amount of punch/bite. The balance is very good. Give me some different flavors and this is a 9. It has a synthetic almost glue like nose and the flavors are gooey and tar like. Thus is probably similar to the reaction people give when trying Laphroaig Scotch for the first time. That said.....I will Try this again. I love Laphroaig!
