This is a surprisingly good rum. I didn't have high hopes reading the ratings and knowing I prefer a sweeter rum, but this one is good.

Nose for me is brown sugar and oak, while the taste is more smoky and long finish. Slightly spicy, bitter, and tart, but not overpowering. Slightly one dimensional without new flavors surfacing after the initial sip, I wonder if 3-5 more years of cask aging would really have improved this one.

This rum will be part of my collection (my ten best), and it is a rum for an everyday sipping. For a good price a very good rum.

Not the rum for me is dry and too complex with a cigar, or to mix will be good, but is not too cheap to be mix.

If you want a sipping rum that won't set you back $50 this isn't a bad choice. I would order this at the Iberostar in Punta Cana because all their other local stuff (Brugal) was less than drinkable. If you're on a budget in the USA and like rum, this is a good choice.

I've probably been overly generous in my marking but this was the rum that got me into collecting and tasting them.

Until I tried this I'd only had basic rums, mixed with cokes. It blew me away. Such depth and complexity, like a cognac.

This is a recent retesting.

Leathery nose.

Some tobacco and caramel to taste, some burnt honey, something else a bit bitter and a slightest hint of vegetation.

Not much of an aftertaste and everything fades pretty quickly. Maybe because it's just 38%.

Still a very good rum.
