And I like that!! The nose is a lot like Kaniche, just without fruit. That is, brown sugar, smoke, spice. Tastes of sweet brown sugar and dry leather, with hints of gasoline. There also a certain degree of vegetal-ness that's present. The brown sugar refuses to back off even on the finish, along with burnt sugar and a fairly strong smokiness that settles in, bringing some heat with it. Adding a little water (which normally I don't do) brings out the leather a little more, and makes this rum way more approachable!
UPDATE:For reasons that escape me, this rum is super drinkable. I don't think I can justify giving it a higher score since I'm sure the heavy whiskey presence will put-off a good number of people, but if whiskey is your thing, this rum could quickly become your best friend!!

Nice rum with a powerful aroma and warming feeling. Dry oak, smokey, leathery. It has a bite. Very good value for the money.

Very nice smell. Bottle looks better than taste, but I think good avarage rum.

Well, not the best I tried, but I think that for that price it's for sure worth it.

Great sipping rum. Just enough sweet, slightly harsh on throat. I would say balanced overall.
Aromas of smoke, molasses. Notes of fruits, cherry, bit of oak. Pleasant aftertaste.

Nesklamal.

For all practical intents and purposes this is a bourbon. And when I'm in the need for bourbon I buy bourbon. Next.

Very smooth for a Barceló (will still warm you up) and good for drinking neat.
