The best of the best in all the rums...
I don't know what the complaining I'm reading is all about. Every bottle of Tanduay Dark I've purchased have all been VERY DRINKABLE, NOT HARSH TASTING, even when sipped straight; and I've NEVER had a problem the following morning. The absolute worst 'problem' I once had, if you could even CALL IT A PROBLEM was still being drunk the next morning. (To me that's a bonus!)
Of course this is not the same as something like Bacardi 8, nor should anyone expect it to be. But it's much better than most Rums I've purchased back home, AND for a fraction of the price! I mean less than $2 USD per Liter for something this good. Sorry, it's worth double or triple the price easily. Stop complaining and enjoy it - and don't forget the calamansi juice!
I had not had rum for 30 years, I had had too many times on Bundaberg Rum from here in Queensland Australia.
Well my friend in the Philippines said try this, it is not like your usual that you are used to...
I totally enjoyed the rum & took as many bottles home with me as I could, I wish I could buy it here in Oz...
Looking forward to my next visit there...
The color of this Rhum is reddish dark brown, it's a strong 80% smooth to drink Rhum with a good after taste. I like to drink it on the rocks, pure in the glass with some ice. This rhum is hard but proven good, no problems in the morning. It can compete easily with the great names like Bacardi Rhum, I appreciate its taste even more. it's alcohol content is much higher and very affordable.
I tried this rum when I was younger. I knew someone who could get a bottle for about $10-15, if I only I knew where to buy it now. I love this rum with lemonade
Of course i like e.g. the 20 year old Ron Centenario from Costa Rica more than this simple Tanduay Dark Rhum. Bit for this price (130 Php) you will not get anything better in the whole world i guess. So, this is the reason, why i give it a 9.0 - 8.0 for the taste and a 10.0 for the price.
Spent a great deal of my childhood in the Philippines, so I just had to try it out for myself once I'd grown into proper drinking age. So, trying to restrain any bias, I gotta say I quite love it. It's cheap, and nice to have on a quiet evening at any time I want. The sheer cold of January really goes well with this drink's flavour, at least for me. I know this drink is very pedestrian when compared to other well known rums, but hey, you can't knock this drink for doing it's rather cheap job damn well.
it is not the best I have ever tasted but has a wonderful flavour and punch. Most 80 proof alcohols are not very palatable when drinking neat, but with coke, Tanduay makes it one of the best drinks around - not overpowering, not oversweet, just a bloody good rum and coke. I wish was available overseas.
First taste was sort of meh. A bit bland. But then itβs really nice tasting and clean. Just faint notes of caramel vanilla cocoa whisky.
Bought in California. I donβt know if this is the same one people rank low β¦ not bad to me
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasty, slightly sweet but great over ice. Certainly has a difference aroma to western rums.
