Picked this one up on an end of bin clearance to try my first anything from Haiti. High-end mixer, yes, but can’t drink it straight up. Nose is complex with oak and smoke, but taste is just too much alcohol and also very little mouthfeel.

This is basically a silver rum. It tastes very young and unrefined. There is a slight grassiness to it, like a rhum, but it's mostly a boozy vodka-like rum. Some oakiness rounds out the very light flavored, very boozy, very young rhum. Better for mixing than neat.

Luktar konstigt, smakar konstigt, ok eftersmak. Blanda om du måste dricka

This was almost rhum agricole adjacent in terms of some grassy, vegetal notes, but it had too much alcohol flavor to be of much use. If you really want Barbancourt, splurge for a slightly longer aged bottle

I’m not sure how anyone could rate thus rum high. It just does not work for me nor does the 5 star 8 year. A hot alcohol mess.

Ok avec du thé glacé ou du coke. Pas très bon sur glace.

This is one of those bottles that I'm glad to say I have had and will never get again.

I made the huge mistake of listening to the clerk at my local liquour store who adviced me to buy this... my god what do they make this with? is like pure rubbing alcohol. I had one zip and left the bottle almost full on the bottom shelf of my minibar as decoration. Never again.

Not been a fan of Barbencourt, but it of course gets worse with less age.
Rubbing alcohol.
