This molasses-based rum is dessert in a glass! The product is only available at the distillery and will run you $300 a bottle. Their products are all hand bottled and if you buy one of the Four Star, you get to bottle it yourself, which is pretty cool.

Age: 10-20 years in sherry casks
Color: Amber
Nose: Butterscotch and maple
Palate: Light heat but smooth as silk. Sweet and delicious like candy, there's notes of molasses, brown sugar, caramel, a light hint of cocoa and mild raisins.
Finish: Finishes like lucious, soft Velvet.

Absolutely delicious! I can't recommend this enough!

Simply the finest spirit made. Every time I indulge I catch a new note of something I previously missed. Each sip is a journey of wonderment.

Did the tour last week in Puerto Rico and tasted all 4 of the variants (2 star through 5 star). The 4 star was a clear favorite for me with its hint of tropical fruits and distinct smoothness. By far my favorite rum I've ever tasted. Too bad you can only get it at the distillery.

Best rum on the planet as far as I’m concerned. Went down to the distillery and had a wonderful tasting tour. The 4 star exclusivity and taste, second to none. Well done!

Excellent rum... If you visit the factory (visitors center) to get a bottle, you get the option to bottle it yourself as part of the experience. It is $300 plus tax at the factory and $350-380 if you buy it at a store. The price difference pays for your tour :-)

From the website: “Ron del Barrilito Cuatro Estrellas is the newest member of our family, aged up to 20 years. ...Wide range of ripe tropical fruit, characteristic of elegant rums that go through the ancient process of maceration. Hints of apricot, fig, banana, and mango. Great finish with notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted almonds.”

I believe they only sell this one on-site in a fill, cork, and wax your own bottle scenario for $300. I tried it on a tasting tour along with the 2, 3, and 5 star rums. This and the 5-star ($750) are supposed to be a limited run from old barrels that were in the racks for decades; so when it's gone, it's gone. It's smoother and more complex than the 3-star, but I liked it better than the 5-star. I think most people did. I kept getting notes of clove along with buttery maple and vanilla. It's just a really nice rum (and priced accordingly).

This new blend of rum aged up to 20 years the oldest and 12 years the youngest is very very smooth while still keeping a very similar taste profile of the first and original Ron Del Barrilito 3 stars. I found it to be a bit sweeter molasses and syrupy. Thicker and darker then it's younger siblings and well worth the $300. Can't say the same fot the 5 star. If you like the 3 star bottle but wish it was smoother, then you will love 4 stars!

A little rock’s make it best. Very smooth, hard to buy because of low volume. Filled my own bottle in San Juan. Limited to 9000 bottles, I have 5222.

Probably the best rum I tasted so far. I just needed To add this to my rum collection, Got an opportunity to visit the Barrilito distillery and it was a very nice experience. But the runs were the best part of that experience.

So this is a more quality flor de caña, a tiny bit too sweet for my taste but if you like that then this is definitely a 10. Superb quality taste (does not taste artificial at all) no burn at all good lasting caramel notes extremely smooth.
