Quorhum Cask Strength 30-Year

Many thanks to Joola69 for sharing this with me as part of a rare rum exchange!

I thought this rum had the potential to be my all time favorite, since (as of this review) the Ron Esclavo XO is my #26 rum, while their XO cask is #3! Meanwhile, the Ron Quorhum 30 is my #13 rum so I thought this could be even higher than #3. But ultimately, I wasn't sure if I even liked this better than the regular 30 year Quorhum.

Great rums usually taste better at cask strength. But to me, this has about the same flavor as the Quorhum 30, with a little more burn. I even tried other high abv rums to be sure my taste buds weren't off, and it seems they weren't.

Like the Ron Quorhum 30, this smells and tastes of molasses, caramel, vanilla, spice, oak, honey, and just a hint of bourbon.

A fantastic rum; I easily rate this a 10.

OMG! This one is incredible it's a really complex rhum. 100 proof and spicy but still very round...
It's a bomb both in taste and scent, in fact so much that it's hard to pinpoint all of it. But I'll give it a go.

Scent: Dark cane molasses, tobacco, oak, raisin, leather, vanilla and some fruitiness...

Taste: Cane syrup, tobacco, vanilla, oak and fruitiness....

Best rhum I tasted so far.

This is about the most perfect rum I have ever had. The nose is absolutely divine, caramel, toffee, honey. Even though this is cask strength, the nose does not smell of alcohol. Taste follows the nose, sweet at first, more dark caramel, toffee, hint of dark chocolate, some orange. And the finish just keeps on going, evolving, making your mouth water. Truly the drink of the gods, this.

Fantastisk smag, og ikke for skarp på trods af 50%. En af de bedste efter min mening.

Taste notes of oak, honey and coffee among other things.
Very rounded even though it's at around 50% ABV

OMG ! One of the absolute best rum I have ever tasted.
Cask strength at 50.2 percent is has even more taste than the regular Solera 30.
A clear 9+ rum !!

This rum has, what I was little bit missing by standard 30y version (which is good, but maybe too much universal, to taste as much people as possible).
The Cask Strenght has BALLS ! The 50% vol is exactly perfect to level up the complexity, intensity and taste, without the burning. From the new line of differently finished 30y versions this is the only one who deserve the higher price - due to higher level of alcohol and perfect taste. I will watch the discount actions and this bottle will be definitely always placed in my bar.

Rhum-bourbon aroma, well balanced body, oak strength in the end.

I had the normal version before. Also good, but this one… Wow what a difference.
No that much sharp for 50%. But you get soooooo much flavours punching your sense of taste and smell . And I mean punching in a good way. Outstandable rum. Starts with a good heat and sweet notes around your tounge. A fusion between honey, caramel and black Pepper. Then the woods start to come through. Oak and cherry wood is what I taste. All over a little note of italian dark espresso surrounds everything. Defently a rum I can recommend. I will buy a second bottle and a third and…

Aroma: CS, o tom není od prvního přivonění pochyb. Hutná, silná, koncentrovaná vůně. Cedr, silně hřejivá kořenitost, broušená kůže, těžší dřevitost, silná čokoláda, za tím pak trocha láku od okurek, kopr, až do stylu US rye whiskey. (92 b)
Chuť: Co je v aroma, to najdete i v chuti. Vyzněním i mocností jsou vůně a chuť skvěle vyrovnané a tak jsou silně koncentrované i chutě, což je paráda. Cedr, kůže a čokoláda dominují. V dochuti pak lékořice, hořkosladké, špetka kyselkavosti. Tipoval jsem ve slepém testu 52%. (92 b)
Body: 92/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnán s kamarádem v rámci degustace sedmi rumů na naší lednové akci. Jednoznačně nejlepší kousek ochutnávky a vlastně i jeden z nejlepších rumů co jsem poslední dobou pil.
