First, I am most impressed with this being a blend without any added sugar and being so cheap.

The nose strikes you with leather, toast and coconut, cottonsedge, pineapple and cherry. On the palate, caramel and fried banana with an oaky finish and slight burn. Impressively long aftertaste for a decently priced blended rum.

You might need some experience with Jamaican rum to enjoy it, but even Captain Morgan can offer some of that funky fruit, just remember this is dry and navy strength.

This rum has a very unique flavour profile to just about any rum that I’ve had. However, the burn on this when sipping neat is far too harsh to recommend to drink alone. Would probably be amazing with coke. Worth a try and I’d give it 6.5 if I could.

This rum is a true aromatic bomb. Be careful, do not take the nose directly to the glass, the aromas are too powerful. Alcohol is also very present. It's a rum that is strong and not for kids !! A perfect match with intense dark chocolate !! It seems that he is very good also in mixology.
For the price, a bargain !!

The nosing was great, yet the taste did not seem to match the smell. There was some subtle sourness. Considering the price, it is a bargain. Really opens up with some water.

This is a home bar staple for me. A mixing giant. The value, the unique but not overbearing flavour make it a mixing essential. Irreverent aroma of overripe fruit is steaming out of the bottle. One of the stalwarts for tiki drinks and versatile enough to crush just about any recipe that calls for non-white rums. Absolutely satisfying and it covers gaps that few other rums in one bottle can. Definitely a stretch, but can do a decent impression of a straight rocks drink as well. Two ice-cubes and four fingers can be an alternative here. Price, flavour and versatility put this in the the super plus mixer category.

The aroma once poured is reminiscent of a banana plantation in the Caribbean. Let at least 1 or 2 ice cubes melt before you try to sip it though otherwise it will do nothing but burn. Once settled an oaky taste emerges and the sweetness smelt disapates slightly too. It still has a slight burn which leaves me to relinquish this one to the mixing shelf, but those flavours hold potential.

It has 57% ABV and sugar aroma, with some agricole rum notes. With a bit of water the after taste develops into caramel, but the whole experience is just not worth the bother.

Has a burnt carbon ash peat finish. The nose is very strong with notes of green cane and strong vanilla. This is better with a splash of water or a single ice cube to temper it a bit.

Updated many years later as my palette has developed. Dang dude. This is amazing.

The rum is a bit too strong. The flavor has a weird taste to it, but I can't put my finger on it.
Luckily I got it in a tasting packet, so only a small bottle has gone to waste.
