Unmistakably Jamaican, pre-industrial pot-still firewater. This type of rum drove the Spanish distillers to create overly-filtered, flavorless white rum (e.g. Bacardi) because they were horrified by the assaultive aromas and rotting-goat-carcass aftertaste of Jamaican rums such as Smith & Cross. Now that it's goat-free, why not enjoy some on the rocks?
It's a delicious, darkly sweet, and funky but with unmistakable heat. It will take over some drinks if it's used alone.
Fantastic Jamaican overproof rum. If you like Jamaican rums, you'll love this. Originally, I rated this the same as Wray & Nephew. I have since changed my mind. W&N has a more interesting flavor, when compared side by side, but it tends to overtake cocktails. S&C stands out, as a Jamaican rum should, but it doesn't overpower. It still has the Jamaican funk, but it has a much rounder flavor profile. Since neither are sipping rums, I need to judge them on how they mix, and my goodness S&C is the superior mixer in tiki drinks. This is now a staple on my shelf. (Not for sipping, duh!)
very tasty , i add a little water to make it easier to sip this unique rum. not sweet, almonds jumps out
Saw a lot of people raving about this. Maybe a bit out of my depth for a first rum purchase. Incredibly strong but I kind of like it? I'm pretty sure I felt my brain reset.
This rum is powerful - I couldn't drink it every night...but I could like to have it on occasion hahe.
It's sweeter than whisky and not so sweet as rum. I am sure I will drink it again.
This is for real rum drinkers, even mixing with coke doesnโt diminish the after taste, for me has to be taken in small measures but good stuff
Saw this bottle high up on a shelf at a cocktail bar and didn't recognise it so ordered a double neat to try it out not realising is was navy strength. As soon as it the bar I got the very strong nose that made me a little apprehensive of drinking this without ice or a mixer but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a huge fan of either Jamaican rums or overproof rums but this was went down very well because even with 57% to compete with, the powerful flavour profile really comes through with enough depth to make it very enjoyable.
a bit bitter..and it got ATTITUDE

The smell is rich, sugary, heavy molasses.
"It leaves a long lasting tingle on the tongue and in the roof of your mouth. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The saying is that price and quality go hand and hand. While that is sometimes true, it still feels good to find something, like this bottle, that proves that good quality also comes at a cheaper price.
Nose: Funky fruit, overripe bananas & a lingering background with brown sugar
Taste: Pineapple, brown sugar and funky bananas that hits hard and long
Overall: This is an essential Jamaican rum, that comes at a somewhat low price point. If you wanna try real Jamaican funk, but donยดt wanna blow all your savings on an expensive bottle, then this is the rum for you.
