Smith and Cross Traditional Jamaica Navy Strength

Pot stilled brilliance, real rum bottled at 57% so needs watering in the glass and a rest before drinking but is a taste explosion. A beautiful thing on it's own or with a full bodied cigar. Not for sugary liqueur rum lovers. A real rum gem.

It's sweeter than whisky and not so sweet as rum. I am sure I will drink it again.

The phrase "easily consumable in a bind" represents Smith and Cross rum perfectly. It's a decent rum, but I wouldn't choose to sip it often. It is dryer and less sweet than typical rums, but has a kick of a spicy finish. The overall taste seems similar to molasses to me with a slight barky tinge. I tried mixing it with a shot of coke, but this wasn't great. I would fit with certain dryer mixed drinks.

Smith and Cross is perhaps an acquired taste...but even with a touch of coke, has a strong after taste. This would not make my rum cabinet at home.

This is a serious challenging aromatic put-hair-on-your-chest (even if you're a woman) pot-stilled rum, with about 4-5 times the ester content of most rums.

If you find Pusser's or Appleton 12 year just too bland for you, give this one a try.

I've never quite experienced the explosion of wafty spice that this stuff brings to the palette. I'd serve it in a flight to demonstrate the range of odd possibilities that rum makers explore, but wouldn't turn to this as a daily sipping rum. It's like an exciting girl that you can't stop thinking about, might leave your wife for, is spectacular in bed, but ultimately but you know she's nothing but a fling.

Open it up with a drop or two of water-outstanding!

light amber minimal legs. nose of leather, tropical fruits & leather, not nearly as many alcohol vapors as you would expect for a 57% rum. The alcohol hits the tongue like a mack truck but dissipates quickly leaving a nice sweetness behind. notes of pineapple and clove. This rum makes a killer cocktail but does ok on its own in a glass with a couple ice cubes.

This is another one of my favorites as I enjoy the overproof rums. This has a strong pot still taste. Not too sweet, not too stiff. I personally enjoy it with mixed drinks and especially with ginger beer. This is one of my favorites rums right now.

A good stout navy strength rum, great for mixing. Love it in rum punch.
