Nothing extreme but a standout, not my favourite but it's a must try the funk and weight is above the rest, you can tell it's classically Jamaican and yet so different just from the smell.
โTIGHT! โฆTIGHT TIGHT!โ as one Tuco Salamanca from Breaking Bad would say. Blows the barn doors right down. Bold. Nice banana esthers. Funky. Little bit of caramel, some vanilla. Tropical fruits. Boosh man, this a rum for almost any occasion for me. Just remember to take a breath mint after, youโre gonna smell boozy hahaha. Great for sipping, great in particular for cocktails. Just a wonderful little bad boy.
It's a delicious, darkly sweet, and funky but with unmistakable heat. It will take over some drinks if it's used alone.
Absolutely amazing. Smooth and funky and canโt even taste the proof. Perfect with a couple of water.
The saying is that price and quality go hand and hand. While that is sometimes true, it still feels good to find something, like this bottle, that proves that good quality also comes at a cheaper price.
Nose: Funky fruit, overripe bananas & a lingering background with brown sugar
Taste: Pineapple, brown sugar and funky bananas that hits hard and long
Overall: This is an essential Jamaican rum, that comes at a somewhat low price point. If you wanna try real Jamaican funk, but donยดt wanna blow all your savings on an expensive bottle, then this is the rum for you.
Drinking this straight is like bare knuckle boxing Mike Tyson, strong fierce, and a heavy weight champ in it's category.
This Jamaican pot still rum is full of flavor and character, but not too be taken lightly. Best drunk mixed or diluted on the rocks
I'm a rookie when it comes to rumtasting. I have tasted a fair share of single malt whisky. So this is my first review! This tastes and smells like how i imagined a piraty old school rum would taste and smell. Be careful when using in cocktails and drinks. Scale down the amount of rum or blend it whit a more tame kind of rum. But when you get the proportions right this truly shines and boosts up any cocktail.
Picked up a bottle yesterday in Pittsburgh @ $33.00. This Rum is like no other I have tasted, like no other in a surprising fashion. I poured a small dram neat and the nose is crazy, initial punch of fume and then a lasting note of molasses. Taste was instant numbing on the lips and tounge with initial taste that I cannot equate; I will call this note "Industrial taste" because Industrial Factory was the first thing that comes to mind.
Only the smallest of sips with this Rum, it is HIGH TEST for sure!!
Each tiny sip was followed with strong notes of Cherries and Brown Sugar. Not overstating either, for me this was like mega cherrirs and mega brown sugar. The Industrial taste up front was not bad, it hit me as interesting and very different.
I never tasted any spirit with a finish as long as Smith & Cross Rum.
This Rum demands a fine cigar to pair. The bold statement of this Rum will hang and compliment even the fullest cigar and I cannot wait to pair them.
My initial 8 rating is upgraded to a strong 9 when poured over ice in a Rocks Glass. Wow, the ice brings this Rum to life, flavors of Cherry and Brown Sugar are still there with a new flavor of sour Lime. The finish is more subtle but still very long. The numbing effect is barely noticable.
Complex, magnificent Rum that even with ice would be wonderfully paired with a cigar.
Definite ethanol if you go in too deep on the nose. I get vanilla and faint cherry otherwise. On the second sip, caramel and vanilla come through mostly. Thicker mouth feel with a mild burn going down. Can't wait to mix with this one!
a bit bitter..and it got ATTITUDE

The smell is rich, sugary, heavy molasses.
"It leaves a long lasting tingle on the tongue and in the roof of your mouth. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Ripe Banana and glances of vanilla in the beginning but you can also find: Spice, orange, dark tea, molasses sugar, this is real good Rum ! Definitely not for beginners
Banana, cedar, and dried dark fruit bum-rush the palate.
Toffee, pepper and a bit of salt on the finish.
