Not a sipper. Probably mixes very well though. Nice nose. Smooth and light taste. Vanilla and ginger. Some cane and a hint of coffee in there too. Very tasty. So far so good. But there is no bite. Mouthfeel is very thin. No finish at all. This could have been a darn good rum.
So wasn't much expecting from local store, then there was this. First sniff is little sharp/alcoholic, second is sweet. Taste is caramel, little sharp edge. Let it breath a little and it's nice, no ice needed, it's well balanced after the breath. Further, banana, caramel and such. Taste is caramel with a little smokey finish, lasts quite long for the price must say. This is an above average rum, with a touch of the higher quality rums, without the hurts of the premium price(don't mix tough, it's really pretty good :) )
I honestly wasnโt expecting a good rum based on the Philippines not being known as a hotspot for rum making. But it turns out that this distillery has some real history. The rum has a great aroma that really makes you want to dive in. It has a little bite on the nose at first but that fades about 2 - 3 minutes after pouring.
The taste is really enjoyable both neat and with a cube of ice. Really tasted like two different rums. There was no chemically taste or heavy bitter wood flavor that can accompany some aged rum. I found it to be significantly less sweet than Diplomatico. More like the Zafra range, but not exactly dry. It definitely has legs on the glass, but not syrupy like many of the other popular ones.
I preferred to let it sit for 5 minutes after pouring when drinking neat. It doesnโt need long and even straight after the pour it wasnโt harsh, just better with opening. There are a few different layers to it and the finish is nice. It doesnโt blow you away with flavor, but is just really enjoyable and solid. On ice, itโs just so easy to drink. I actually only put it on ice because itโs a stereotypical Florida summer evening and cooler sounded better to sit on the porch and chill.
Found at Mollie Stones
Nice bottle. Great color. Oily thick nutty consistency.
Classic pallet of Madagascar vanilla, honey and medjool dates.
Apparently this company is one of the largest producers of rum in the world.
Very nice rum from the Philippines
I heard that this won Gold at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America and Silver at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Tanduay Double Rum is a blend of two aged reservesโ16-year-old rum and 5-year-old rum that are aged in the barrel for another two years. I got a chance to try some at Max's South Seas Hideaway in Gand Rapids (their mai tais are pretty good.) Wow! Best sipping rum I've ever tasted. So smooth, no burn. Full of sweet flavor.
Excellent rum, great taste, great color. Overall very good
This rum has such an amazing aroma of fresh bananaโs and caramel. The taste is just as good as the aroma, I taste nice notes of cinnamons and a sort of vaguely sweet caramel taste. I definitely recommend this rum.
Delicious rum i say. The right sweetness for me. Nice aroma with caramel and nutty flavors.
Definitely will buy this one again.
