Very smooth on the palate. Reminds me of Reserva Exclusiva, but bumped up a notch. Very good sipping rum.

Dark gold in colour, big fruity aroma, almost brandy-like, burnt sugar and fruit on the tongue, minimal alcohol burn, this is really good stuff

Must have for a rum lover. Hard to find, but worth
Much better than green bottle for me... Flavour profile in direction and close to Single Vintages in half price, thats really good! I recommend you green bottle (Reserva) if only you drink softer drinks and you are new to rum world or to any aged drink, thats also a lot sweeter and "flavorful" if you want your drink a touch aged but also vary drinkable. But for me Diplomatico Selección got a lot more depth in flavour with balance sweetness and more original taste. Taste profile is medium power of oak with delicate touch of cherry and sweetness, really what you want after a hard day of work...

It's the bigger, better version of the classic reserva. the extra 3% ABV helps quite a bit, and the recent EU law forcing it under 20g of sugar/L is a welcome change, too, making it drier and drawing out all the flavor without too much added sweetness.
Sugar: Estimated at 25 GPL. Less sweet than the Reserva Exclusiva, but a bit sharper on the palate at 43% ABV. Strong taste of wood with some nuts like walnuts or almonds. I also detected a bit of sherry and sweet caramel. You definitely have to let it breath in order for the burn from the extra alcohol to fade. It's a bit better than the Exclusiva but not as good as any of the Single Vintage series that I have tasted. I put a couple of drops of distilled water in my glass and this rum becomes very smooth. Based on where it is in the Diplomatico lineup I give this a solid 7.5 rounding up to an 8 as I've rated the Single Vintages at 9 and the Ambassador at a 10. If you like the Diplomatico brand then give this one a try.

Salted caramel and dark chocolate aromas. Nice enough rum
Very good rum, not excellent. Reserva exclusiva is better for me .

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Unfortunately I wasn't able to compare with anything, and neither was I able to write my opinion within a few days, so this time my opinion is weak. I liked it very much, and rated it a 7 or 8. That means I liked it a little bit less than the cheaper Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva.
