Very nice rum, more to a cognac, slightly alcoholic and good fruitiness

Tasted at Kill Devil Rum Club Plantation tasting at Laka Lono, 5/28/20.
Notes indicate a warming sensation, with a nice finish and the comment "this would be nice with a lime."

Sampled at the Laka Lono Rum Club tasting on 5/28/20. Grand Terroir. Clean golden color. Floral sweet aroma of honeysuckle blossoms. Big licorice flavors. Cognac notes. Finishes hot. Love it.

This is a dryer rum than I typically prefer, but the reason for my 6 isn’t the dryness - it’s the bitter, grassy, astringent taste and even stronger aftertaste that lasts quite a while. I get more bourbon hints than cognac, quite strong black licorice after a few minutes breathing and a cube of ice.

While it’s not my cut of tea sipping, I absolutely love it mixed with Coke - even though it’s 13 yrs aged to me it’s affordable enough to do so.

I thought I had had this one before, but there are so many Plantation rums it’s hard to keep track. Not my favorite Barbados Plantation but nice solid rum bottled at 42.8%. This very well may have been the precursor to the great Barbados XX. Light gold color, mild alcohol burn on the nose, mild sweetness if not slightly bland initially on tongue and then it opens up. Not one of my top 10 but I’ll find room on my shelf.

A bit spirty with a generally sweet and bland tone, a good rum for sipping, very good for a 13 year old rum.

New-ish to rum. This was a great selection compared to my previous rums. Dry, smooth, some spice, subtle oakyness. As other reviewers note, it benefits from a rest. I had with an ice cube and it went down great!

This isn’t an typical rum. Don’t drink to fast from the bottle. Let the little overproof alcohol vapour. The taste widens when time go by. I can taste the plantation xo in it. Still a little dryer more fruits in it. The dry fruits does me think more to cognac where this rum is aged 2 years after 11 years in Barbados. If u like dry rums or like cognac this would be for you. Not the best rum, but it’s something special.

First in the tasting of the vintage series. Very tasteful, good aroma, could see myself being a pirate laying in the shade on a beach drinking this
