Neisson Extra Vieux 8-Year

This rhum agricole is a harmonious blend of different rhums having matured for six to eight years in French and American oak barrels of various sizes in the north-west of the island of Martinique. The nose is dominated by vegetable aromas and sugar cane juice together with spices and also fruity and woody notes. A nose where all the aromas are well blended. On the palate the spices and dried fruits take center stage and the woody notes increase in intensity. The Finish is long lasting with dry, spicy and sweet nuances.

A good agricole, that means all the opposite of a sweetened ultra light (fake) ron from South America. More pungeant, dry, flavoury. Backed fruits, sultanas, cane, fruits eau-de-vie, spices, wood, a mineral side too. A well balanced and complex profile. Not the cheapest of its category but very well done.
